Firstly, sorry for your loss, sounds like your okay though which is what is really important. I might have already written a comparison post somewhere on this forum but I will resume my opinions on the similarities and differences.

Speed/Acceleration: Night and day difference what 50% more HP will do. Getting on the highway foot buried, the Si was peppy and a bit above average compared to the typical vehicle on the road and you got to experience redline reasonably. Do the same in the ITS, top of 3rd gear is a ticket in most states (89mph) and 4th is straight to jail (122mph). One is not better than the other depends what you are looking for.

Handling: Hard to get an apples to apples comparison seeing that the Civic is 13 year old and worn out a little but the 300lbs difference is noticeable in the corners. The Si is exhilarating in the sense that example a turn at 30mph would make it start to dance and be on the limit where 30mph in the ITS is a one hand on the wheel snooze fest. You'd need to be going 50mph+ to get the same feeling because the ITS is so capable.

Creature Comforts: Honestly comparing the Canadian spec to Canadian spec, all Si's had the GPS DIN so while it's a modernized experience with Android Auto, it basically has a slightly better sound system, a powered seat with lumbar and a heated steering wheel adder in the ITS otherwise not much different.

Practicality: Both are pretty practical but the ITS is that much better. With exception to hauling heavy things, Costco runs and airport pickups are better in the ITS.

Generally the Si is more go-kart like, raw, fun but basic. The ITS is the Civic dialed to 11 however in the transition it loses some of that rawness. Think very much in the same way people complained about the 9th gen when comparing to an EK/EJ.

I echo this except I had US spec Si. The power is night and day. You could wring out the Si well into 4th gear, popping off shifts and redline in the Si but really can’t do that with the ITS.

The ITS is a lot bigger in all dimensions - nose is long, it’s quite a bit wider. So it takes some real getting used to. What you might have easily navigated in the Si.

Creature comforts are a lot better but could be better yet. Sound system is way better. Shifting the ITS is such a pleasure and much more positive feeling.

Not gonna lie, there are some days I miss the old Si.

I had an 8th gen and now an ITS and can say your assessment is spot on. One thing I’d add is that the 8th/9th gen’s were NA and sounded glorious hitting vtec and letting it sing to 8000+rpm with an intake installed.
To all the prior 8th gen civic owners, how does the ITS compare to the 8th gen civic in terms of road noise? I went from an FG1 to a BRZ and the road noise is much worse on the BRZ (my mods probably don't help), but I was fine with the road noise in the 8th gen. I keep hearing negative things about the FL5/DE5 in terms of road noise though, just trying to see what to expect since I couldn't get a good sense from the DE5 test drive I did.

Highway cruising in my 8th gen is worse (on Blizzaks). Some of that may be engine / transmission noise, as it's much noisier in that respect. If you were to put 265 PS4Ss on an 8th gen, the road noise would be deafening.

ITS road noise is bad, but not worse than a 20 y/o Civic. We just have higher expectations for a $50k car with a psuedo-luxury interior than we do for an early aughts Honda.

For sure- it's all about where you assign expectations. If you expect this car to be "luxurious" then you will likely be disappointed.

It's a sports car with an Acura suit on. It's not really all that luxurious... but it's so good to drive many people don't give a shit. Myself included.

But to be clear, if you're expecting luxury, your best bet is probably German. Or Lexus.

Yeah that’s fair, not really expecting a luxury level of quiet, but I would like to be able to take phone calls and hold a conversation with backseat passengers comfortably.

In town / city, and on backroads, you'll be fine. Depending on highways near you, that might be a bit of a struggle. (60 mph? Likely ok. 80 mph? Gonna be a little rough.) Changing to a less aggressive tire will solve the problem. Or, you could spend $75 on acoustic material and a couple hours treating the rear wheel wells and the floor of the hatch; that works, too.

This 100%. On crappy backroada and chipsealed roads near me, even with the sound deadening and blocking holding a conversation with my kid in the back isn't suv level quiet. It's tremendously better and can be done, but in stock form it was booming. I'd have to yell previously.

From a phone/conference call perspective, I don't get any complaints. And I was on very noisy 275 RT660+

Thanks guys, it was a pleasure reading all of your responses.

The WRX is great, but I definitely want to go back to Honda/Acura. I do miss my SI, it wasn't the fastest car on the road by any means, but it always put a smile on my face, and I loved how they looked. I know with the ITS I'll have that same feeling dialed up to 11. Just a few more months and it will be mine!

This is why my dogs go in the backseat, keeps conversation light.

We have a '25 german sports sedan as well, an while yes its a bit more quiet (and 600+ lbs heavier) its plenty loud with its 19" run flats. You want quiet, get a Lexus. And some redbull to keep you awake while you drive.

We are picking nits here, toss it into a turn hard and marvel at what the engineers were able to do our fancy shmancy civic.
