Hello,

Example of this annoying rattle I've had since day 1 of the car (it has 800 miles now) - Can only hear this while driving (not idle rev) - It is most prominent in 1st and 2nd gear between 1500 - 3000 rpms and ONLY when I take my foot off the accelerator. I took it to Acura and had a mechanic drive with me but he said he can not hear it - it is subtle from the drivers side when windows are down and there are often too many environmental sounds for someone who doesn't know the car like I do so I guess not easy to hear for them. However, I bought a wireless mic and now have a recording of this (link below). I guess I'll go back and have them listen but they probably think I'm a crazy customer at this point as I keep bringing it up (prior to my new recording evidence).. Any ideas what this could be? sounds like a vibrating metal washier or screw loose?

For location perspective - I have a static image for youtube of where I put the wireless mic before closing hood and driving.

See that little silver bit just left of center, at the top, just right of the bolt holding the Type-S labeled carbon cover? That piece has play and it vibrates off throttle. There are supposedly inserts for other cars that you can use to help shim it to greatly reduce the noise.

Hello,

Quick update as it looks like I might have found the culprit (uber thanks to SilverRocket for his above observation and comment which lead me to the issue...) - as you can see/hear in the video the wastegate actuator arm has a ton of play and is definitely ratting on deceleration.. Will see if I can get Acura to fix this and hoping it a quick job to do..

I'd be curious if any other Type S owners have a similar loose arm too ...or if this is expected to be this loose for everyone's car but I'm the unlucky one with the 'enhanced' rattling feature..

Very common issue on the ITS and CTR. Mine has been doing this since new and I would love to resolve it.

I like the waste gate rattle ? I let off the throttle and listen for the jingle
We need a thumbs down reaction button.

This noise drove me nuts for the first few months of ownership. I've gotten used to it but it's not like it ever went away... I would not get my hopes up for any dealership tech to resolve this. My thoughts are someone is going to have to get creative.

Also I'm convinced it's worse on some cars, pretty sure mine is one of the noisier ones. As is OP.

@SilverRocket props for walking him through diagnosis.

From what I understand, it's present on all of our cars and doesn't represent a malfunction.

If it really bothers you that much then I'm sorry for striking a nerve and hopefully you can find some sort of fix, but I just wanted to bring some levity to the thread and share that it doesn't bother everyone.

Lighten up, it was a joke. I was reacting to your levity.

Loose like that on all of them.

You can get a washer under the screw to help the higher pitch jingle. The "low static buzz" I get in winter is when the other end of that resonates via air ducting when you have the heat on ?. It's riveted there, so maybe some really high temp grease could help.

I plan to have the intake and heatshield off soon to do a turbo blanket, and I'll have to disassemble part of the waste gate while there. I planned on trying to silence it a bit then.

I've been very unsuccessful with the dealer fixing any of the many noises this car makes. Latest one is my airbag springs click ?. Hope your dealer is better.

My steering wheel just started making the faint clicking/creaking as well. What did the dealership say when you brought it in?

I've got buzzing from my passenger side door panel up near the glove box and from the B pilar also. I was thinking of bringing the car in to the dealer to ask about all 3 of the noises.

Your b pillar is probably the seat belt assembly. Dealer is hit or miss on that one. Mine did something about the drivers side but refused doing anything to passenger saying they couldn't replicate.

Last two times they've seen it (with my literally replicating it) they claimed they couldn't hear it. I'm literally reproducing it on command and can reproduce by shaking the airbag and they still said "we can't hear it". I'm convinced they're just deaf, lol.

The other buzz you have could be a clip in the door. I fixed that one myself. Others also have one near the vent area there that seems can be hard to pinpoint.
