It is interesting for sure… but it seems every time I take a closer look the backseat legroom and price turn me off.
Honda is hard to beat on interior volume and value.
They haven’t disappointed with a current Type S yet so here’s hoping they keep the streak going.
Re making money, putting a decent manual in the Type S won’t sell a pile of those but if they can make the Type S exciting enough the halo effect could sell lots of other trims.
Maybe… or all these unusual steps will lead to more talk about the car on message boards and automotive press leading to increased sales.
Who knows, those NFTs could end up being worth something in 20 years. (Half kidding)
I suspect the production stoppage would be more about it no longer being offered in the Accord…. not sure what you mean re customers already having it leading to stoppage.
Ya, according to a Honda/Acura tech I know it would be highly unlikely for them to change the transmission bolt pattern between the Accord and TLX 2.0T since it’s the same block but with different engine mounts for packing in each car.
That being said, its somewhat less likely for Honda to...
Starting to think strongly 10AT only for Type S. With A Spec Tech being the only trim with MT that feels like them just doing the minimum to keep MT in the lineup for brand benefit as opposed to showing a commitment to it.
I expect them to continue that thinking in the Type S. It saves them...
Is it likely to feel like you’re in an Acura based on the prototype interior? I don’t think so.
Is it likely to be a great car and a decent value? I think so.
If they put in an Acura steering wheel, red on white gauges, changed the driving mode selector/prk brk to look like a smaller version...
At the end of the test drive all that’s going to matter to me is do I feel like I’m in an Acura or not.
If not, they’ll probably still get me into a base model since it’s essentially a nicer Si hatch.
If it feels like an Acura, and I can get out the door under 50k CAD, then they’ll probably...
My guess is the Type S will be around $38K US.
Since the 1.5T is getting over 210hp on the dyno in the new Si my guess is the Integra will be listed at 210+ to distance itself from the Si a little on paper.
I’d like to have a 2.0T but will miss the fuel economy of the 1.5T. If Acura keeps...
The target audiences of the Integra and TLX are quite different so I don’t really see an issue here. Car purchases are very emotional for many and the exterior styling will be a bigger factor than space in a luxury 4 door car.
If space is a primary concern you’ll buy and SUV. I do agree with...
While it’d be awfully cool if Honda brought something along the lines of the Sports EV coupe to market it’ll be a long wait.
They’re not in a position to invest in low volume vehicles. Chip shortages and supply chain issues are taking a toll and they’re behind in the electric game. Hopefully...
Honda makes some of the best manuals out there. If they miss the opportunity to showcase them in a car that deserves one as much any of their models then well poop on them.
I wouldn’t bet on the Type S having a manual though. That’s just the kind of decision the bean counters and/or marketing...
Ya the Type S is gonna be a tough sell. I’m hoping they ruin it somehow to save me the $$. Automatic only might do it :)
In theory they’ll be produced after the other models so maybe some kinks will be ironed out. With any luck they’ll option it up like the Si here so it’ll be a decent value.
While I’m very tempted to drop into my local dealer today, and actually set a reminder, I’m not 100% sure I want to be in batch 1.
If I’m spending 40-50k on one of these I’d rather not be dealing with initial production run quality issues.
