It allows for shifting the entire mechanism slightly. You could try adding some washers to "pitch it". I'm not gonna say "I recommend it", haha, but I wonder if a minor change would be enough to avoid problems.
Yes, if I remember correctly, you can move it farther back and/or to the left (relative to stock). There isn't 2 inches of movement, though... maybe half an inch -- but, you could also lower the knob and/or shorten the throw, which would allow you to avoid having to push it so far forward.
I don't know that skinnier tires really perform that much better than wider ones. This test shows they make, at best, a very marginal improvement on snow / ice (and obviously they offer worse performance on dry pavement). The key is having good winter tires and driving appropriately for the...
intake is step 1...
...T51R mod is step 2.
Usually, people have this done to aftermarket turbos, but recently, someone had the mod done to their stock FL5 turbo:

RV6 also sells a turbo with an anti-surge / T51R mod already...
If you can resist the urge to install a massive, 30lb bar & plate intercooler directly in front of the all-important radiator, you'll probably be fine.
Ironically, I installed my Acuity shifter last weekend, had the console off, and had no idea the problem was sitting right there, lol.
Give the piece a wiggle while you're doing your install; you'll be shocked at how loose it is.
Well, I finally tracked down my last major rattle. It was an obnoxious one that occurred consistently at 3200-3600 rpm. From the driver's seat, it sounded like it was coming from the center of the dash. From the passenger's seat -- probably due to reflections off the windshield / window --, it...
Not too bad! Took me about 2.5 hrs, including half an hour of tinkering with different settings for the gate / throw and 15 minutes of trying to fix a panel gap for the center console that exists by design ?
Move the driver's seat all the way back before disconnecting the battery (also recommend moving steering wheel all the way up and in, but you can do that any time).
You don't have to disconnect the climate controls from the cable harness (you can just set it aside).
I ended up taking the shift...
Installed mine today.
The process wasn't too bad. Acuity's instructions are pretty good (their process is based on the Civic; there are a couple differences re: trim for the Integra). ...scratched my hands a good bit, but that's to be expected, haha.
Yeah, the general consensus in the past seems to have been that Acuity shifters are on a different level than Ktuned / HR. Of course... 1.) no guarantee that carries to this platform / generation; 2.) it's very subjective.
