Hi, I'm new to the forum; new to the Acura brand, actually! Just bought a CPO 2023 A-Spec Tech 6MT last Saturday, just joined this forum yesterday. I have a teenage son about to turn 15 this summer, so he'll learn how to drive in this car, and eventually use it as his daily driver when he turns 16 (lucky kid, right?).

Anyway, I'm already making a mental list of all the upgrades and modifications we want to make to the car, and the very, very first thing is to get a HomeLink mirror swapped in.

I've read almost all of the threads in this forum related to HomeLink, and I'm hoping to start this new thread to kind of just consolidate all the info into one thread.

  1. It seems the most popular choice is the Accord mirror (08V03-3A0-100), and that modification appears to require (a) running a wire down the A-pillar, or (b) opening up the back of the mirror casing and swapping out the Accord plug with the Integra plug.... correct? I've found a really good written step-by-step in this forum, but was hoping for maybe a video or sequence of pictures if anyone has a link? Especially as it pertains to some people saying they ended up with too-short wiring, etc.

  2. The second most popular choice seems to be the Civic mirror (6400-T20-A11). What I can't determine from the threads is if this requires any modifications, or if it's a straight-up plug-and-play replacement, since the Civic and Integra are basically the same car, built at the same factory

  3. The third option I've seen out there is using an MDX mirror (either 76400-TYA-A02 or 76400-TYA-A11), but I can't quite find a thread that shows anyone actually choosing and installing one of those two MDX mirrors? Also, neither of these two parts listings actually say "HomeLink," but I know MDXs come standard with HomeLink, so....

When you look at the part diagrams, the MDX and Civic HomeLink mirrors look exactly like the Integra mirror diagram, but I believe I've read some people say the Civic mirror is not frameless, like the factory Integra mirror or the Accord HomeLink mirror. Is that true? And what about the two MDX mirrors, are either/both of those frameless? Lastly, how about size: are any of the mirrors significantly larger or smaller in size than the stock Integra mirror, in a way that is detrimental to the aesthetics of the Integra interior?

What I'm really hoping for is to determine which mirror is the easiest swap job for this 50-year old dad and his 14-year old son to do over a weekend... I have enough basic experience with wiring and soldering and crimping that I don't mind getting into this... I just don't want to have to pull body panels!

I really appreciate any input/feedback any of you guys can offer to point me in the right direction!

I installed a used MDX mirror on mine. Here is one of several posted on eBay for $100.

Here is the link that shows how to do it:

I stayed away from the Civic option since it was a framed mirror, and I truly enjoy the sleekness of the frameless one that our car comes with.

Thank you, @JC-RH!

I'm assuming that's officially Acura part # 76400-TYA-A02? For the 2022-2024 MDX? I prefer to buy a new one, no matter what.

I actually read your post in detail before starting this thread. Great job on yours. Do I assume from what you encountered is that you used the existing MDX plug, and the only modification was with those yellow & red wires? The MDX mirror plug otherwise fits directly into the Integra's window bracket plug? This was the area at which I got stumped.

I installed the Accord Mirror with HomeLink. Worked great. Looks the same as the OEM part.

If you go with the Civic one, the only mod you'll have to make is to add a jumper wire from the +12V signal for the mirror dimming control to power the HomeLink buttons. But like others have said, it has a frame, so the Accord mirror is the better route if you want to retain the OEM look of the Integra
mirror.

The Accord one really isn't that bad to install and can be done in a few hours. You just need to buy the harness for it, and have some plastic trim removal tools so you don't scratch the panels. Zip ties to secure the wires in the A-pillar, and a new clip for the A-pillar trim, since that's where your side curtain airbag lives and you don't want to cut corners on safety.

Here's the video I made when I installed mine:

I actually have a video I'm working on for this.

The gist is: you disassemble your Integra mirror and your 08V03-3A0-100 Accord mirror and reassemble using:
  • Integra stem (matches rake of windshield + required length)
  • Modified Integra harness that passes through stem (connector inside mirrors is identical, car-side connector is not. Must connect yellow and red wires in order to power the Homelink module)
  • Accord mirror (both halves)
It's a bit tricky to disassemble and re-assemble, but if you have the right tools, the mirror part is actually easier than removing the mirror from the car in the first place. The clamshell around the sensors by the mirror is a PITA to split without breaking it.

And the bonus of doing it this way is, you're no longer working in the interior of the car once you remove the mirror. The modifications can be done inside at a comfortable work area.

Yes, that should be the correct part number for all current gen MDXs. I honestly can’t remember exactly what I did. What I definitely do remember was combining the red and yellow wire, and everything I did was self contained to the mirror area (no harnesses needed to be run up and over the side of the car). No need to tap into fusebox either.

Keep in mind that this setup allows for you to use the HomeLink buttons ONLY when the car is on or in accessory mode. Many see this as a safety feature to prevent unauthorized entry into your home if you ever leave your car outside. I believe the method to always have power requires you to run a new harness, but I could be wrong.

Curious to know if the Accord mirror has indicator lights built into/behind the glass. I can confirm the MDX mirror does.

Can confirm. I used the Accord harness and mine is powered even when the car is off. I agree about the safety thing, so if you're worried about that, either wire it with the jumper, or you may need to de-pin and move some wires around on the Accord harness if you go that route.

Yes, it does. There's a green/orange light, and a little home icon. If you watch the video above, you can see it in the first few seconds.
