I'm curious, did any of you all buy a 5th wheel as a spare (in case of damage, etc)? Apex extended their sale 1 day and I'm wondering if it makes sense to buy a spare while it's 20% off and free shipping.

If I understand their warranty (replacement) options, it's customer pays shipping and you get 50% off a new wheel.

* for two years after purchase, it's 50% off

I've never bought a fifth wheel. I've only rarely had catastrophic damage to a wheel so it hasn't been a major concern for me personally. Unlike some other companies, apex doesn't just quit making a rim and disappear into the night, so I'm not concerned about needing to replace a rim down the road. 20% off isn't enough to justify a spare imo. That's when I just put it towards a brokerage account and come back to it later if I truly need a spare.

That said, their process for replacement is a bit tedious... You ship the old rim back, pay for shipping on the new one, and you're obviously mounting and dismounting the tire/valve in the process. It's better than no discount, but you'd definitely be down a wheel.

Also, if you paid for the dealer's wheel damage program, it typically covers aftermarket wheels on the car as well. They'll repair or replace with an equivalent one. I've used it for some curb rash and getting a new tire when a nail got into my oem ps4s.

I swapped out the Amazon lug nuts for the Gorilla ones I mentioned earlier in the post. They are much better quality. Here's some pictures, Gorilla 41148BC.
