Clicking noise from left front ONLY when turning right...

I too have random very loud scraping noises that generally end with a “tiiinnnngg” and I’ve just attributed it to a pebble in the dust shield dislodging. But it’s totally random as well. These usually happen as I turn the wheel to back into my driveway.

I kind of get the same thing when I back out of the driveway because I'm full turn on the wheel. By the time I get to the end of my street I here all sorts of bangs and scrapes, LOL, then gone for the rest of the day. I do have lots of loose pebbles on my street though.

Same stuff appears to be happening with CTR's too. Probably 90% of our issues are heat shield related.

Anyone still hearing this after getting the steering recall done? I have had the same noise as everyone else recently, but so far it's gone post recall (although likely a coincidence).

I had a few joints get ruined due to shop over torquing during spring install (ugggh) so I assumed it was just that but sounds more universal.

And yes, they repaved my area 6 months ago, never swept it properly, my car makes horrible noises daily from all the little pebbles and my garage is a mess. It's a combo of the sticky tires and brakes. Sucks pulling up with my car sounding like a beater with that squeal..

^This. It is routine at this point, I've just gotten used to it.

A combination of clicking while turning and various assorted metallic screeching noises- all extremely intermittent- I've just chalked it up to rocks/debris getting caught somewhere in the general wheel assembly area.

It may or may not be exacerbated by aftermarket wheels with lower offset. I feel like that makes some sense just from a conceptual "physics" perspective, but I've got no real data to back that up.

This noise recently came up for me. When making slow right turns, really standing out in my parking garage, kinda of like a tick, knock, ratational sounding… still don’t know what it was but I took the wheel off, cleaned the hub and all the rocks stuck to anywhere inside. Noise is gone. Could have been a rocks, maybe some junk in the suspension, bad hub contact.. who knows, just wanted to post this so you may feel better if this happens to you! I have on apex wheels…

I have Apex wheels but do not have the clicking sound. Lots of rocks in the brake heat shield though. brutal.

I am experiencing the clicking sound from my Apex wheel as well. I have remove the wheels few times and the sounds always comes back after few days. I am still not sure where the cause of this issue. I went up on a BMW forum, and find out many Apex user also having this issue clicking isssue. Maybe the VS-5RS forged doesn't mat well w/ 2 piece rotors. Some member on their forum recommend to either add a thin spacer or apply some anti seize between the wheel mounting face and the brake rotor. I have add some anti seize yesterday on all wheels to prevent of the vibrations from transfer to the wheel; I just have to wait to see if this can actually reduce the sound in the next weeks.

Then started getting the clicking Turing into my house nothing in reverse just forward. I told the dealer before going in for recall but I removed my new wheels and when back to stock for the service and the sound when away. Got the car back swapped back to apex. Clicking came back few days later, removed from left checked around couldn’t see anything pads looked good. Did the left and sound was gone till came back. Finally just took the wheels off when back to stock no spacers trying to see if I can make it click.

i will say when I took off the front right losen the titan 7 lugs which none where lose I could here a similar click. Going to give it a few more days and spirited drives and will go back to the wheels and try that anti seize stuff

Saw the bmw forum too. I need put the apex wheels back with the anti seize. Car just looks silly with stock wheels with no spacers
