VSA Neutral Position Reset

I just finished installing the Eibach sport line springs and rear camber arms on my DE5. I have an alignment appt set up for next week. Wondering how many of you guys followed through with the service manuals recommendation to perform the VSA reset procedure at the dealership following lowering/alignment?

I have seen a few old posts about it, but so far undetermined how necessary it is? In all honesty I will probably have it done, but I’d like to know if any of you have just disabled VSA and been fine. If I had to guess, this step is being skipped…

No idea what you're talking about, so I guess I skipped it. It's been like a year since springs went on and I've driven multiple track days, etc. no issues. Is it really necessary? probably not.

My understanding is that it teaches the new neutral position of the ride height sensors after lowering/alignment. Assuming you have VSA disabled though? Good feedback, thank you.

I wonder if this is causing the extreme pad wear we are seeing?

I would say no as I have not experienced major issues with pad wear. I'm running hawk hps 5.0 pads on the rear, have over 6k miles on them, and have been on track for 5 days since switching to those pads. At least 50% life left on them. Although, I'm probably running at 90-95% capacity on track, and only occasionally feel the rear brake vectoring. It may be how hard I personally push the car that's making the brakes last. Of course, If I had 15k miles on the car it may be a different story.

I don't believe the vsa is related to the position sensors. There's the ads controller for the electronic suspension.

I don't know that there's an easy way to reset the memory for full droop and static height for the ads here. On my gti you'd clear the registry memory for full droop first, and then on next start with the car on level ground it would measure static height. You could try a similar procedure by pulling the ads unit while at full droop for long enough for it to lose its cached memory (30s), then plug in the car and go to acc before lowering to static height and then starting fully.

In theory it should be relearning over time as you drive along.

Well you are 100% correct. Upon further research and downloading info from honda tech info subscription, VSA is only comprised of vehicle speed sensors. ADS system has the ride height sensors.

For everyone's future reference, I am attaching the documents I downloaded, including the Type S alignment spec that mentions the VSA neutralization procedure. That alignment procedure has the factory alignment specs, but it lists them in degrees/minutes. I put those numbers into a calculator that converts it into degrees only as it is easier to interpret...

For what it is worth, the VSA reset sounds as simple as connecting the HDS tool and hitting a button.
