trunk button on fob

I'm old, but I don’t think I'm feeble minded. Can someone tell me the usefulness of this button? Best I can tell, if the car is locked, pressing this unlocks everything, trunk and doors. If you have the fob, then the trunk will release when you press the button under the trunk lid. So, a button is a button. What use is it?

You got it in your write-up. I thought this was pretty useless myself. Maybe they meant to integrate a power liftback at one point and then decided not to?

I'm guessing it's because the remote is a standardized form factor. The rest of the lineup has power trunks/lift gates so Acura didn't want to make a special remote just for the Integra.

It is the one thing about this car I think they could have done better.
How about a trunk or hatch release in the front of the car or on the FOB?
My button to open the trunk/hatch broke, so now I can only enter it via the backseats, this alone is a good reason to have a different way to open it.

Seriously. These have been in the most basic cars for decades. My 2002 corolla had a simple lever and cable which never broke, never jammed. Maybe it's a hatchback thing, but that shouldn't stop them from offering a power lift option.
