Shift knobs anyone?

Those that have the Acuity collar, do you find that the OEM boot bunches up too much for the collar? I have an extra one from my S2k, but don't want to install it on the DE5 if it doesn't fit right.

It does bunch a tiny amount. I've heard from a few folks that they use some felt or electrical tape to add girth.

Thanks. I may try the hybrid one, but i'm a little off put by the bold letter branding.

On a side note, I like that Acuity is now including DE5 stickers in the bonus pack of stuff they give out.

I don't have a picture (of the method) but if you wrap some tape around the collar as Vic mentioned, it can take up enough space to reduce the slack. Best picture I currently have of the results.

I've got some felt pads for furniture. (sticky on one side) I'm going to cut a small strip to go around and try it when I put the overland console on.

If you have some on hand, electrical tape would be a good alternative as well. You shouldn't need very much but some trial and error will get you to the right thickness. I want to say I needed enough for about half the thickness between the collar's original, smaller diameter and the full diameter (the visible portion). A few overlapping layers of tape would also offer some "fine tuning" to add or remove as you see fit.

That looks great. I really like the red. Thanks for posting. If you want to go all out get a stainless or black HybridRacing boot collar. Adds just a little extra.

I ended up changing from the stainless one in my pic to the red one. It looks even better.

It also holds so much better than the cheap OEM one too.

I know this thread is history, and old news but I just got a 25ITS and myself have become somewhat obsessed with shift knobs. This thread shows up in all the searches…
I’m on the Mugen ball right now and I think it’s a winner. It feels so good…
One question for you though, did you replace the retainer nut along with the shift knob and the collar? My black OEM retainer nut still shows beneath the knob and I have not swapped out the collar yet. Thinking of a red collar to give it some pop with the silver mugen ball, but I like how your boot comes all the way up to the knob. Thanks
