Fortunately I don't really need a DD since I WFH and I have a few family cars not listed that does all the kids sports hauling duties.
I actually almost bought a '25 RS3 because of the updates but something about the interior and the fact that I've had audis in the past that was never enamored...
I didn't realize the DE5 lacked the LTE connectivity that the FL5 had until after purchase. It was just something I noticed right after. Not a deal killer in anyway. All my modern cars have that connectivity just surprised the DE5 didn't have it.
I work in tech (AI) so yeah privacy is what it...
That was the one of the pretty significant differences I noticed from my FL5. On the FL5, the app was pretty good. allowed me to remote lock/unlock the car, check its current location, showed oil level, mileage, etc..
On the DE5, it showed nothing...
My car came with 15mm front and 20mm rear spacers and I was not a fan at all. I had a FL5 prior with no spacers and OEM forged wheels so that was my reference point. I removed the spacers and the car steered the way I like. I think spacers and driving feel will differ from person to person.
I personally would not pursue further; if you do google the VIn, grab a carfax and scrutinize everything and most of all, go with your gut feeling.
A friend recently sent me a link to a used '25 GR Corolla with around 6k miles that seemed like a good deal.
A quick scan of the carfax revealed...
i'm shocked the PO didn't remove anything prior to trade in. The intake alone is $$ and can easily be re-sold. I'd probably pass too. As tempting as having those mods, I also don't like that the car has been tuned prior. But that is just me.
I have 3 6MT cars, and my preference for shifter feel and overall engagement using the manual is ; s2k > 981 GT4 > DE5.
I do think all 3 are very good.
I prefer the S2k shifter over the DE5. The DE5 is still cable actuated whereas the s2k is direct linkage, so it has a more mechanical feel that I prefer.
I had a G80 6MT same time as my FL5 and I agree.
the G80 in auto comes with the ZF8. If It had the same DCT as my F80 and F87, i'd probably grab another. No offense at all to the ZF8, but it just doesn't have that lively dual clutch feel.
Most important thing is you are OK. I know we as enthusiasts don't look at cars as just something easily replaceable. I hope everything goes well with the new car.
Thanks. I may try the hybrid one, but i'm a little off put by the bold letter branding.
On a side note, I like that Acuity is now including DE5 stickers in the bonus pack of stuff they give out. :)
Those that have the Acuity collar, do you find that the OEM boot bunches up too much for the collar? I have an extra one from my S2k, but don't want to install it on the DE5 if it doesn't fit right.
As they say the grass is always greener!
this past weekend, there was a photog at my favorite road (highway 9 to those local) These cars are so much fun in the twisties!
Happened to me when I dropped off my kid at basketball practice. I went up a slightly gravelly driveway and got a pebble stuck in the front driver-side rotor. The sound was insanely loud and I couldn't lodge it loose, so I drove home making a complete racket. Took long screwdriver and poked the...
