Sending out an ECU for unlocking

2026 Acura Integra Type-S
So im getting my ECU to get it sent out and unlock soon and im pretty sure im not the only one to think...what if it doesnt make it back?? With that said has anyone order a replacement ecu from Acura? If so does the new ecu have to be program to the car or is it plug and play?

i think somebody on these forums had their ECU get lost in the mail.

i'm not personally interested in tuning because it seems like a huge hassle, but if i was going to, i would buy a backup ECU and use that for the tune while keeping the original one as a backup in case i need to take my car in for service

They have remote unlock services now. I don't remember which vendor it was but I would check with Jester, DRob, Phearable to start.

Mine was lost by the carrier during return shipping. Because an image of the original ECU was made by the tuner, he was able to restore that image to the replacement ECU, requiring no additional work on my part other than re-installing it...no need to go to the dealer and get it re-paired.

In my case, the Integra Type S ECU was on backorder but the Civic Type R ECU worked for this purpose. The difference in part numbers from Honda/Acura have to do with the tuning installed from the factory.
