I wanted to share this recent mod I did on my Type S shifter trim in case any A-Spec owners wanted to get some ideas to try and freshen up the shifter area a little. Prior to that I was running a wrapped piece but the wrap is starting to bind, which is what prompted me to paint. Plus I wanted the steering wheel trim to match and I definitely lack the skill to wrap that piece.

Type S shifter trim. Painted vs decal.

I painted the Type S trim pieces a gunmetal color, then filled in the embossed portion with enamel black and red paint. Lastly I hit the whole thing with satin clear. I also did one with an A-Spec shifter trim and put a Type S decal on it just to see how it would come out.

I like the embossed look of the painted but the flat decal looks clean too.

Parts used:
Type S shifter trim, embossed 83446-31M-A01
A Spec shifter trim, blank 83446-3S5-A21ZA
Type S decals https://ebay.us/m/wji0aP (you can also request the seller to make A-Spec decals, he'll know what to do)
