That's interesting to hear.

I don't feel my borla has any drone in comfort. At certain rpm I do find sport+ has rasp and some drone. Sport has light drone now around the 3k rpm range, but it's tolerable.

Don't get me wrong, I can certainly hear it in the cabin in comfort, but it's just a background exhaust hum that sounds like a deeper and slightly louder oem sport+ sound. It's not booming or echoing.

I'm really surprised you're getting drone from q300 šŸ˜•
Maybe drone isn’t a fair assessment. I can still carry a conversation and no one has complained while I’m on a call. But it is loud enough to notice when I get out of the car after a longish drive. It isn’t booming or deafening but it is… present.

Compared to stock sport where do you believe it stands?

Comfort with the Invidia Q300 is probably substantially louder than stock Sport.

Again, that's kind of what I wanted though. As with most things when adding aftermarket parts, you take the good with the bad. It sounds good OEM but just too quiet. The Q300 is probably the most OEM+ offering out there, especially for the price.

Man I'd really love to hear the borla vs q300 side by side. They're very different methodologies. The smaller piping, helmholtz, polyphonic harmonizer, and suitcase muffler are all doing similar things in a different way from the single res (or no res) and muffler split options. I think the 3" vs 2.75" piping probably makes the biggest difference in comfort cruising along, but I wonder how much.

I remember years ago someone did a back to back of a bunch of options on the gen coupe. Would be cool to see for this car.

It sounds like something that would take genuine effort and resources to put together, unfortunately.

I'm happy to hang out with folks who have these exhaust options to make the comparison- but there aren't many around here that I'm aware of.

Plus I'm not really a people person and have already pissed at least one local-ish dude off through these forums- and the feeling is pretty mutual- but I'd be willing to set petty microaggressions aside for the sake of science.

Yeah considering I've only seen two other its in my area in almost two years, I find it unlikely it could be done in my area. Maybe someone in Cali can organize it. Seems a lot of these cars are out there.

Thanks for the video @optronix! After reading what you and @Victorofhavoc were saying, I went back and re-assessed how I felt about the stock exhaust, specifically doing some highway driving in Sport, and I think the "drone" may not be as bad as I seem to recall (I don't do a ton of highway driving in this car so it had been a while) - the tire noise was definitely louder overall.

It'd definitely be great to get an event and some good audio equipment and put together the ultimate side-by-side comparison of every exhaust - I'm in a similar situation where I've only seen like... two other ITSes since I got mine - and on the same day, weirdly enough.
