The padding is closed cell foam, it shouldn't be absorbing moisture.im going to re-quote myself as to what the problem/concern is as it seemed it was missed.
“The vapor barrier is useless IMO since it’s got holes in it for the wires to come through and the floppy padding just collects moisture as well”.
The black padding, that’s outside of the vapor barrier and proximal to the door card is damp…. This is a problem. This problem is exacerbated by a door that is not effective at sealing and a vapor barrier that is not completely sealed as described.
Are you finding that if you wring it out it releases water?
