I have to add that it's possible to grab the handle too quickly and pull it before the sensor notices the back of your fingers to unlock. I am now in the habit of wrapping my fingers around the back surface of the handle and wait for the click before pulling.

I had to train myself to wait as well. My MK7 GTI and my wife's RAV4 did it all in one motion with no delay.

we got a new s5 yesterday. Crazy how much more responsive the shit is when U touch the things that look like a door handle but technically isn’t a door handle

Same. Pretty annoying.

I would say Honda just cheaped out on the RFID implementation. There are grades to these things in automotive engineering OEM suppliers. Honda went cheap.
