Here is the original review I wrote when I first purchased the ITS - https://www.integraforums.com/forum...ype-s-deciding-buying-and-car-thoughts.53712/
I’ve owned this car for approximate 13 months and put on 15000 miles. During that time, I’ve taken long trips, back road spirited drives, work commutes, quick grocery stops, and much more. I’ve included a list of mods I’ve currently done to the car. As you may have been able to tell, I lean toward “all show, no go” types of mods
. I will be covering how the ITS does in these scenarios as well as cover how quality has been so far and my favorite mod to date.
Quality:
In my original review, I talked about build quality of the panels and such so I won’t cover that here. Nothing has changed there. I do have front end ppf, but the paint does chip easily, and it has on some other panels. Interior wise, the leather seems to be holding up well after 15k miles. I don’t have scratches on the door cards or elsewhere, but I am generally careful. I don’t have kids or passengers usually. CarPlay has been working flawlessly without disconnects. Everything just kind of works. The car does rattle like hell though. It is unacceptable, but I love the car so much, I kind of don’t care…..
Daily commute:
I do have other cars, but I decided to take the Integra to work for a week to see how it felt in DC traffic. It was very tolerable. I have a 36 mile commute, one way, and the clutch is forgiving enough that I didn’t feel tired after sitting 1.5-2 hours in traffic. Fuel economy is acceptable in comfort mode and when driving normally, but the tank is so small…. If it was my only car and my daily, I would not mind at all driving the ITS in traffic.
The quick stop:
I fostered an S2000 for about 18 months. During that time, I’d pick up the keys to the S, look at it, put it down and take something else. lol. The S is literally my favorite car, but it’s also not easy to get in and out of, stiff, and if I can’t put the top down it’s not worth taking it. I found myself not wanting to drive the S unless it was a perfect day and I was going to be out for a while. With the ITS, I don’t feel that way. It doesn’t feel like a chore to drive it. Maybe I’m just getting old….. anyway, I basically jump in the ITS for anything outside of work for that reason.
Long distance:
One trip a friend and I took was a 5 hour, one way drive, and we did it round trip in a day. Overall, the car is comfortable. My rear end started to feel numb after about the 3rd hour. A quick stop at the rest area and it was all good. A strange thing happens to me in this car that happened in my 8th gen SI. My rib cage feels sore after about 2 hours. I’m am not sure why this happens. Savagegeese mentioned this happens when he drives his LC, but that does not happen to me, in mine. The fuel tank is small, so a few stops were necessary. There’s a lot of road noise, but I guess I don’t mind since our other cars are all dead silent at highway speeds and sometimes feel so disconnected from the outside world. Personally, I might not pick the ITS for a long trip. I’d likely hop in my Ioniq or our EQE for that.
Fun stuff:
I’ll speak to when the car was at stock height and no spacers. The car handles well, we all know this. But I’m still surprised at how the rear end behaves for a fwd car and brings a smile to my face every time. Spirited back road drives are enjoyable and the car never feels unsettled or out of place.
Maintenance and issues:
I’ve had zero issues with the car. Had the steering work gear recall done within the first week I’ve had the car, and besides that, just a few oil changes. Everything seems to work well, CarPlay never randomly disconnects. At 15k miles, I still have some tread left on the factory tires but will likely change them soon. I think I was at 4/32 when I last checked. I got the first oil change for free, and the others were about $100. Besides that, I haven’t spent anything else on maintenance.
Favorite mod:
My #1 favorite mod so far on the car is the Acuity 4 way adjustable short shifter. Let me start by saying the factory setup is SUPERB. There’s nothing wrong with it, and honestly nothing that I could say that I wanted improved. Well, the Acuity shifter takes it to a whole new level. The bolt action feeling, the preciseness, and how it gets rid of absolutely any play in the shifter. It’s simply 🤌. Honerable mentions include PRL HVI (for sound), BilletworkZ (custom “type s” shift knob is GORGEOUS), and the accord mirror retrofit for homelink. Springs were installed by @NSXavier that runs PrecisionRS. If you’re in the DC area and need an installer who is attentive, as OCD as we are, and will treat your vehicle like his own, look no further, @NSXavier got u
The beginning:
Let’s face it, no car is perfect, and all cars have their fair share of flaws. As enthusiasts, we try to justify these flaws with what each of us think makes a car special. This car is special to me, with all of its imperfections, and I will likely never sell it unless life circumstances don’t allow me to keep it. After my first year of ownership, I can tell that this is just the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship.
