Really Hyundai/Kia is taking up where Ford left off.Check this car beyond the power and price specs. You'll see some clever solutions borrowed from their rally/racing expertise.
- the reviews indicate an exciting car to drive and pretty fast (not CTR level of performance though)
- I love the design: it's bold, has personality, stands out just like the CTR
- the interior looks awesome, sporty and a bit elegant
To me this is car-porn. Congratulations to Hyundai for having balls to continue innovating and bring exciting products for different niches. Like this one for the enthusiasts(what Honda was doing in the 90's / early 2000s). Instead of selling wannabe sporty cars like most manufacturers do nowadays. Sadly Honda seems to be doing the same lately with Civic XI and Integra.
I own a CTR '19 PMM and a Sedan '19 1.5 M/T. The CTR will stay but I'm tempted to exchange the Sedan for the Elantra N. This car looks more special to me than the regular Civic X. Moreover there's no comparison to the bland Civic XI / so-called "Integra".
Focus RS 350HP
Focus ST 252HP
Fiesta ST 200HP
Fusion Sport (320hp AWD)
Taurus SHO (365HP AWD)
When Ford killed off its car market it took out a LOT of what was holding up the sport compact market. No other brand had as many. Honda was just the Si and CTR, VW was GTI and R. Chevy and Dodge had NOTHING. Mazda has had nothing since the Mazdaspeeds were killed. The 86/BRZ are KIND of in that market, but less practical. Subaru only has WRX/STI that have barely changed in a meaningful way in YEARS.
That said I cant think of ANY car made after the S2000 that will be as legendary as any of the late 80's early 90's cars, aside from maybe the Focus RS, and people need to STOP comparing modern cars to them because they will ALWAYS be disappointed. Rules, safety regulations and emissions have long killed those cars off. If you want a 90's car, go get one, but youre going to be working on it or constantly changing things to add what you want like Bluetooth, or for it to not feel gutless next to a modern Altima, or it to get the MPG that modern Altima will get too.
Aside; seriously, a modern Altima willg et 40+MPH reliably on the HW with a 185HP 2.5L, imagine how quick and the MPG youd get if that drivetrain was in a 1999 Sentra. It would be a beast of a Spec-V for back then. Just like if you told someone in 2001 the next BASE Integra would be a sport liftback with a 200HP turbo engine and an LSD. Honda guys would have lost their minds in joy.
