Hey guys, looking to see if anyone's done the T51-R mod to their stock turbo? If so what company did you go with and would you use them again?

I know there's no performance gains etc., I started this build as a nostalgia thing to my old boosted hondas in the 2000's and this is missing the open dump/DP screaming turbo sound with aggressive BOV. I know the BPV is what it is and sure I could spend 15K for a turbo/supporting mods to make another 100 un useable HP. At full bolt ons already I'm just looking for more of the sound/feel.

Why not do it yourself? All it takes is one or two holes really. You could do more, but two will do it. It only needs to be a tiny bore and depth, and the turbo is easily accessible.

8$ for a drill bit and a few hours on a weekend...

Doesn't exactly seem the smartest idea. Companies will CNC it so there's no issues etc. For 300 its not worth the trouble of DIY

Okay. Depends on your risk tolerance and mechanical ability I guess. Nothing beats a little adrenaline rush 😉

The bmw crowd did it frequently and there's a few civic boys vlogging about doing it. Sounds like a diesel turbo truck.

Personally I’d rather the anti surge hot side feature myself. Like the dtr6054

t51r sound is a close second but nothing beats that diesel whistle.

no, not worth the risk.

no one sells a turbo with this mod already done? wouldn't that make the most sense?

i imagine there'd be a big market for aftermarket turbos that sound cooler

RV6 does, but again 3500 turbo, 4K in fuel, tuning, for 100 hp that wont be useable on the street
