2024 A Spec Tech HUD-Speed Limit Stopped Working

Anyone else seen this before. The speed limit is not showing up on the Heads Up Display. I took a road trip up to Canada and it was working fine. Then when I was coming back the speed limit icon in the HUD only shows a circle with three short horizontal lines.
My dealer said to bring it in and they’d take a look at it. But they were unable to reset it and said I’d have to make an appointment. Earliest I could get in is August 1st.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Strange! I’m sure they’ll sort it out; likely with an entirely new unit if a soft reset didn’t fix it. I haven’t heard of anyone dealing with HUD issues other than the bad software patch that botched street names via Apple CarPlay.

They thought maybe the speed signs in kilometers freaked it out. But I was up there last July and didn’t have any problems.

Been to US with my canadian car a couple of times and that never happened.

A few things I'd think to try in the meantime (if you haven't already):
- Clean the top of your windshield behind your rearview mirror. Although if the speed limit sign recognition is the only issue and the other safety systems work fine, that's probably not it
- Toggle the unit setting to KPH and back to MPH
- Disconnect your battery for 15 minutes. You'll get a Christmas tree of dashboard lights after reconnecting it but they'll go away after a short drive and restart of the car. The HUD settings will be reset and your wireless charging pad will be turned on by default (I keep mine off because I keep a MagSafe charger on top of it)

My car needed a HUD replacement as my display glitched with a big blank circle obscuring the one’s digit of speed and the traffic sign. Part was back ordered so I’m guessing this is not uncommon. They also have to take the steering wheel off to complete this job and failed to put it on straight, resulting in a return visit. That was about a year ago and the new unit has been fine. Good luck!
