Darn, guess I’ll try for maintenance or warranty packages instead, or just suck up the cost and decline the ceramic coating as well. I’d rather not have them mess with the paint than to get their shoddy wash/correction/coating even if I have to pay for it.
I will likely do the same since I much rather have my usual detailer-friend do the PPF and ceramic coating. Would be a pain to go to my friend for the PPF, and then go back to the dealer’s ceramic coating person to have them apply it poorly. Wonder if I could apply that ceramic coating charge...
Surprising to hear of other places/provinces with mandatory trade-in and protective packages and accessories too, but it seems like it’s not too outrageous and egregious so far.
Have you guys NOT had to get mandatory ceramic coating? My sales guy says that’s mandated by Acura Canada which I...
I’ve driven Honda manuals for most of my life, but I did have an F87 M2 DCT, which I miss dearly, mostly for its N55 sound and for its RWD. IMO, the steering feel was noticeably worse than my TSX, and even worse than my VWs. I test-drove a manual M2 before getting it in DCT and was incredibly...
Yup I have a working vehicle with relatively low mileage for such an old car, so I could wait it out for a few years and see what the market, interest rates, personal finances are like.
The exception would be made for the FL5 though - if the dealer says my allocation is happening, I will make...
The interest rates and the high price tag (especially with forced protection packages and/or accessories) means I won’t pick up the car unless I can pay in cash, or at least have a substantial down payment for it. If I can’t do that, then I’ll either keep saving up for a CTR/ITS, or even an ND3...
The Golf R is a terrific daily driver and really quick off the line, but not something that makes you “look forward” to the drive, or tempt you to wake up early on the weekend to go canyon carving in. I had a MK7 Golf R and would love a MK8.5 R, but I’d also need a fun manual toy car as well...
Since the black interior option has a lot of red stitching, I think it would go well with the white exterior too for those who want a more subtle overall look.
It could be a case of Acura Canada “ordering”/commissioning fewer Apex Blues and playing it safe with white and black (and carbon). They’re already showing they’re playing the conservative route by not having a cars with Orchid interiors, nor having the copper wheels as an option here.
Apex Blue might overtake both White and Carbon for me, especially because I’m okay with the all-black interior that Apex Blue is “stuck” with, in Canada.
OP: Let me preface this by saying that I appreciate your impressions and perspective of the driving dynamics, and also that your comment about the heavy-bass of the ELS system is seldom-mentioned (only seen it also mentioned by savagegeese). As someone with a history of FWD cars (some of them...
Btw, that white paint “panel mismatch” looks terrible to me in the Jay Leno video inside his “garage”. I need to see one in person to really get an accurate gauge though. @wontondon
Yes I’m first on the list for the “second wave” arriving in the Winter. I indicated my preferences as: White, Carbon, Blue and my sales guy says I’m pretty much guaranteed my first preference (even if it changes by then).
