Let us know how you feel about the winter performance! I've heard a few good things here and there about it when used in the FK8/FL5.
For sure, I’ll write a little update probably in the spring. That way I can address the long term usage and how winter went. I do park in a heated garage so I feel like that will help with the higher viscosity over OEM. Luckily I’ve seemed to have grown up a bit the past few years and don’t beat on my cars like I used to so I will let it get to temp before any spirited driving takes place.

Mid winter update. It’s been rather chilly here in PA with temps not getting out of the teens for a few weeks now. The cold weather has very little to no effect on the shifter feel. Perhaps it’s a bit more stiff when initially going into 1st . It’s not really noticeable that the fluid has a higher viscosity than stock.

Overall I’ve really been enjoying the Amsoil. Shift feeling has been very positive in all conditions and temps as well as spirted driving and cruising.

Second gear grind has almost been completed eliminated. It’s happened twice since switching. One of the times was definitely a skill issue.

I have about 3k miles on the Amsoil and I would definitely recommend it.

after parking at EWR the last two nights with its 0F overnight lows, I returned at 10am today, car cranked a bit slower as expected and shifted with only a hint of brrrr by the gear box, which didn't take too long to get some temp in it getting on the highway.

Honda MTL is damn good OEM fluid. :)

The factory Honda MTL so far is doing good for me in the cold. It starts to feel just a bit sluggish around 0°F and below, but not bad. 20°F is no problem at all. Warms up quick.

I haven't had the time, but I have a gallon of Redline MTL that I'm going to give a shot. Redline MT-90 is definitely superior in terms of cold-weather performance to the OEM Toyota fluid that was in my Tacoma. I'm hoping the MTL will be similarly superior to the OEM Honda fluid.

Haven’t ran it in my de5 yet but in other cars I only heard that in reverse. And it wasn’t every car either. Maybe half of them that got the amsoil mtf would make that sound in reverse

Every Honda 6sp fwd I've had (3) have 3rd gear low speed light load whine and 6th gear whine at exactly 65mph. I'm very sensitive to drivetrain noises in all cars. Many people may not hear it.

I ran GM friction modified sychromesh in my '04 6-6 for 160k, no issues, stopped 3rd gear crunch when cold immediately. I put it in my '17 6-6 for the same reason.

My S2k is still running Honda MTF, has cold 3rd gear crunch, only on 1st shift of the day. I'm going to have to go in it soon anyway, as it's got an input bearing noise when hot in neutral at idle.

I'll probably go to GM fluid in my type-s when I change it, no issues cold, other than it's a little reluctant to go into 1st when rolling at slow speed when temps are below freezing.

awesome, I only hear it at low speeds as I’m exiting my driveway and after that it goes away. I don’t have any issues going into gear but I was a little nervous that my trans fluid might be low.

Also, nice to be chatting with another TEP owner
