Unfortunately, DI doesn't correlate with how bad the overrev behavior is. It's dominated instead by the strategy the manufacturer uses to combat the between-shift emissions spike. Honda's implementation is.... not good. lol.

My ITS has pretty bad overrev, even after tuning.

It isn't a problem in typical everyday driving, but as soon as I try to drive my TSX aggressively (i.e. kicking up the revs up towards redline) that's when rev hang occurs. From that I can tell, it occurs because the car's electroniccs are trying to keep emissions down which is what I always kinda suspected -- but I've now found numerous articles explaining rev hang in modern cars. I also don't have the issue at all with my '00 S2000, but it also has a mechanical cable from the gas pedal to the throttle body. And for the record I don't look at my tach while driving! I also never had the issue with my '95 Civic or my wife's old '93 Prelude (both 5MTs).

I'm not denying that rev hang exists, I'm saying it's a non factor unless you are a driver who was taught to match revs on an upshift.

So exactly what is done differently by a"driver who was taught to match revs on an upshift" and a driver that doesn't when both are driving aggressively and shifting near the redline? When driving like that I'm just trying to get a quick gear shift done to get the engine reengaged to put power down. I could/can do that without issue in numerous other Hondas, but not in my TSX. I cannot see how I am trying to match revs like you keep implying.

I think it's simplistic to say "just drive it differently". The fact is, that "option" is in fact the core issue. I want the car to do what I tell it to, not the other way around.

If a driver who was not "taught to match revs on an upshift" means they that take their sweet time shifting gears -- even when driving aggressively and revving near redline -- then stanleywinthrop is completely missing the point! But as I have been saying, this isn't any everyday issue unless one drives the piss out of their car on a daily basis. I do not do that (anymore) but on occasion I like to ring it out.

They sit and wait for the revs to drop before engaging the clutch, which with rev hang I agree could be annoying if trying to drive aggressively like that. Perhaps that's not you, I have no idea. But in the past when I've queried folks who loudly complain about rev-hang more often than not that's what they are complaining about.

LOL, sitting-and-waiting during shifting is the polar opposite of shifting aggressively. I would argue that those that shift slowly and/or wait while shifting are folks who would not notice the rev hang. And conversely those that drive and shift aggressively (i.e. - trying to make quick shifts to maximize getting power down) are the people who notice rev hang precisely because the ECU doesn't let the revs drop naturally and -- from my experience -- making it darn near impossible to get clean quick shift in lower gears.
