Is should have a sticker inside the driver side door jam but maybe they removed it. I ceramic coated it in November 2025 with Gyeon ceramic. I don’t remember which one exactly. I also did the leather coating from Gyeon as well.
Oh yes , I just went to check lol. Definitely confirmed it’s your former car. Did you do the coating or did you get it done at a shop? Do you know how long the exterior coating and leather is rated for?

I pretty much never drove the car. It was a struggle to get through break in period. I bought the car because i wanted something sporty and fun. It wasn’t meant to be a daily driver for me, i have a family jeep and a GTI that does the heavy lifting with kids and whatnot. I was looking for something fun for solo drives, while ITS does 100% do that it just wasn’t on the edge and what i was looking for right now. When i had the chance for the CS i went for it. And since i only put about 3-5k per year on my fun cars i figured it was worth it.

I think someone in an earlier post said the car deserved better than 2,000 miles and sell. I disagree, i think the car deserves to be owned by someone that will drive it and truly enjoy it. So i think me selling it was the right thing to do, allow someone have an awesome spec car while i shoulder the depreciation hit.
ITS vs CS are definitely different classes of car so I don’t blame you one bit for wanting to go for the CS. That’s going to be a highly sought after car even more than now.

I’ll definitely keeping taking care of the car. Appreciate you taking the time to fill me in some details! And also breaking in the car properly! Yea, this is going to be my daily driver for now.

It was me who said the car deserved better. The comment was tongue-in-cheek; there's been some ephemeral members on these forums that pop in with a list in their sig block that's 12-15 cars long. I think it's cool as shit that the OP got some closure by his successful journey of finding the former owner.

And as much as I love this car, the M2 CS is arguably the best BMW ever made. To me, the best-looking. So I can't fault your logic. I'd almost surely still have one if I could have found one in the spec I wanted (Misano Blue with gold wheels). That's a much better fit for a non-primary 3-5k mile a year car that doesn't require back seats vs an ITS, I do agree.

But I do have questions around keeping the GTI. The ITS to me is the ultimate do-it-all car but not really a 1st round draft pick when it comes to "special" cars like an M2 CS. My thought really has been if you don't need the extra doors then there are better options than an ITS- but it is a categorical upgrade from a GTI from a driving experience perspective. That would easily have me kicking the GTI to the curb but also I get it could just come down to cost. It might not be the most practical or comfortable car for kid stuff either- I can't fully relate because my kids have been grown now as long as I can remember. My rear seats are for the dogs and shit that would never fit in a Boxster or 911- maybe the ITS doesn't do kid stuff well, IDK.

That’s the spec i got Blue, gold wheels, 6 speed. It’s a fun car. I will say the gear box is not as good as the ITS. I miss that gear box.

As far as keeping the GTI. Probally the most boring answer but probably the one that makes the most sense. The GTI is a car my wife & I share. It’s DSG, she can drive manual if needed but she doesn’t like it as all so for me to trade that car it would need to be Ok’ed by her, i also don’t want to take her fun car away. The other thing that makes it a tiny bit more useful is that it seats 5 we have 3 kids. The car is also paid off so there’s that too.

Use mine for kids soccer almost every day. Does great for kids stuff. But I don’t really take it out of town or if it’s a mess outside. That’s where the MDX type s gets to work. But yes dogs/kids the it’s is great for. 🤪. My kids want it when they can drive. 😊

You got the blue on gold spec! Can’t wait to see that thing rolling around. What did the kids say about the car swap?

It's the definitive version of the car. It's drop fucking dead gorgeous; it's on my top 3 list of perfect "attainable" sports cars. I stand here humbled from my previous "it deserves better" comment lol. I'm pretty sure if you dug through my post history I've sung this car's praises- in particular that specific spec. Misano Blue. Gold wheels. 6 speed.

Perfection. Just look at this thing (for anyone who doesn't have one but wishes they did).

Only last question I have (I think the only other available option...), ceramic brakes or steel? They both have their own unique values but honestly I'd probably want steel and then upgrade vs ceramic and downgrade. Neither could really survive under sustained track use... obviously ceramic better than steel but good lord when it's time to replace them $$$$$.

To close the loop on this near-to-my-heart car, I found two of them. One was white with black wheels, DCT. I actually loved the car and may have ended up buying it but the PPF job was just a shitshow. Killed it for me, because I just couldn't help but think if the PPF was that bad the car must have just been "ridden hard and put away wet". Hard pass. I found a blue one with gold wheels but it was also DCT- and they wanted $125k for it. This was 2022. I couldn't justify it.

I hear you on the DSG GTI too. My wife learned to drive on a manual (my 88 Ford Bronco II in fact...), but she's grown apart from it. Probably a lot to do with local traffic. She has her Macan GTS now but occasionally she enjoys stealing my car but not as often as she did when I had the droptops.

Also there's nothing quite like not having a car payment.

Good stuff. What an entertaining thread lol.

Agree on the thread. I enjoy thread like this and glad the OP posted and got some background on the car. Thanks @Krazydan19
for being on it and sending me the thread in our DMs. Congrats to the OP got an awesome spec car. I hope to see it around town.

I got steel brakes. I’m not opposed to CC but not really into paying +10k for them. And i dont plan to track the car often so steel i think is good for me.

I have not taken the car for phots but this is one i took the other day. Came out of HEB to this. If anyone know who this is let him know i think the work he did in this car is legit!
