Just picked up a 2025 Type S in liquid carbon with black/red interior. I wanted a daily driver that is more engaging than my 23 Accord hybrid. My requirement is it has to be manual, good storage space(golf bag), and decent comfort. The list of cars I was considering was BMW M2 and the Integra Type S. I actually had a 2021 M2C a few years back. I eventually sold it because that particular car did not have the adaptive suspension. It was really a rough ride for me. However, the new M2 has the adaptive suspension and that was the only reason I was considering it. The price difference between the M2 and the Type S is about $13k. My decision in choosing the Type S was the fact that I already have a 2025 Z4 M40i 6 speed which is pretty much a weekend car. I will also have to order and wait about 3 months for the M2 to arrive . After looking at the Type S I was convinced that the car that will fit my needs.
At first, I was just going to trade in my Accord at my local Acura dealer. As expected the dealership low balled me on the trade in. But it did offered a $1k discount off the msrp on the 2025 Type S. I was not satisfied with the deal and I walked. For the very first time I decided to sell my Accord through an on-line car purchasing entity. The offers I received for the Accord was vasty different. The offers I received had a spread of $3k. I ended up selling my Accord to Driveway. I did some research on Driveway and discovered it is owned by the Lithia motor group. The whole selling process was rather seamless. The only hesitation I had was they wanted me to sign the pink slip to them before I received the funds. But every turn of the selling process was exactly what Driveway said. Communication with Driveway via phone, email, and text was timely and responsive. My car was picked up on a Saturday and I was offered the payment via direct bank transfer, or overnight check to me. I chose to be paid by a check. Driveway provided me with a tracking number the following Monday and I received the check Tuesday.
I went back to the same dealer and was surprise it still honors the $1k discount off msrp. So now I have a 2025 Integra Type S.
The first thing I did to the car was to put on a few coats of ceramic coatings. I have since installed 15mm wheel spacers on all 4 corners. Replaced the stock rear swaybar with a Whiteline 22mm one. That is pretty much all I wanted to do now. May install some tinting film down the road.
I have had some fun cars in the past. Had 6 Miatas ranging from NB - ND, Mazdaspeed 3, a first generation RX7, WRX, Boxster S, Cayman S, Audi S5, 370Z, second gen. Z4, M240i, and the M2C. I have to say this Type S is really a combination of fun and practical. It has been I while since I had a FWD vehicle with this amount of HP. I would say the Type S is definitely not at the same lever in many ways as my Z4M40i. For example the seats in the Z4 are so perfect in many ways. They have the side boaster that literally locks you in place. The power delivery from the B58 is so linear and almost has no perceived turbo lag. But having said that the Type S still provides me with all the "fun" factors I am looking for. I am very impressed with the handling part of this vehicle. Especially after the installing of a thicker rear sway bar. It turns on a dime, but it is a bit "scary", or different when exiting out of a turn with FWD. For the amount of money it cost on the Type S I would expect features like memory seats, heated steering wheel, homelink mirror, power passenger seat, and a rear hatch open button. Those are all nice features to have, but not absolutely necessary.
Overall, I am happy with the purchase and looking forward to spending time with this fine vehicle.
