Nervous about going to 17”

Thanks for having me! I’m in Canada. Just got my 2025 A-Spec 6MT. It has the 18” rims.

I am seeking winters and bought some 17x7 from a 2017 Civic. Bolt pattern and offsets and stuff match. But I am nervous because every tire site suggests a 17 doesn’t match the car. I suspect it’s because there isn’t a 17” option on any in Canada for 2025.

has anyone fitted 17” rims off a Civic without issue?

I’m confident, yet know if I buy the tires and it doesn’t fit I have rims and rubber to try and sell.

If you want reassurance just browse this sub-forum. There are lots of people on 17" for various reasons. If in doubt, bolt the bare wheel on the front and check the clearance.

If bolt pattern and offset are the same then bolt one on and make sure that the brake clearance is ok. If perchance the center bore was smaller then you wouldn’t be able to get the wheel on. If the center bore was larger the lug nuts will center the wheel when tightened. I’d like to think that the center bore would be the same. Also check what type of lug nuts are needed for the Civic wheel. The Integra uses a rounded face that meets the wheel, I’d like to think that Honda uses the same type of lug nuts for all their vehicles, but you never know.

As far as I understand what matters is the overall diameter of the tire. If the sidewall radius (the middle number) is bigger by an extra inch or so (25mm) of a 17-in tire, then it will be similar to the 18-in wheel with the smaller sidewall radius which will be perfectly fine.

Tire size checks out as 0.25% variance.

I'm planning on going from 235/40R18 on my Civic Si to 215/50R17 snow tires because I have a set of legacy 17" steel wheels from a previous car. 215/50R17 is an official 11th gen Civic tire size used on the lower trims. You'll be fine.

Nothing mechanical changed. It's a business and marketing decision. Acura got rid of the 17's in the refresh to boost the value proposition of the car. "The base model now gets 18's, wow, what a deal! See, we're updating the car!"

If you are buying 17 inch steel wheels, don't forget to buy plastic wheel centering rings for them, too, so you can mount the wheels properly. I can't remember the specific size on the Integra (and steel wheels have different bores too), so do your research.

This all makes sense, thank you. I actually picked up some 17” rims off a 2017 Civic that matched all the specs I know of. then bought the centre caps with the Acura logo, so I’m good to go with my fake Acura rims.

We did indeed get snow, I also was not prepared, but the roads are dry right now, so I’m good
