Having prior experience with Cobb, when I saw they were in the fl5/De5 arena I decided to go for it. I like the ability to tune quickly and without a laptop, as well as quick ability to scan codes, datalog, and capture data on the fly while on track.

The Cobb ots maps are fine, but I wanted more for street, for open track, and for TT use I needed specific power limitations. Brian at JS Tuning has been super helpful and the tune he put together is absolutely fantastic! I did some datalogging and tracking with the AP and found my 30 to 70mph times in 3rd gear came down to 4.02s. The car is now and absolute rocket, but the best part is he was able to set the exhaust valve exactly how I like it in each mode. He also made it so comfort is low torque by 25% or so, sport is 10% less than top power, and sport+ does about 350-360whp. The thing just pulls at all rpm now.

I'm pretty excited to get it on track coming up next weekend!! I'll be the group 2 leader that weekend and driving along with de4 for fun at times. Next year I'll plan to TT it, so I've got oil pan baffles, ball joints, and Fl5 ads on the way. I'll have to get the car on a dyno and aim for 310 avg whp.

If you're considering a custom tune, I honestly can't say enough good things about Brian. His tunes and willingness to listen and be open are very valuable! No BS from him, and I absolutely love it!!

Do you have any additional modifications done to the engine, such as intake, exhaust ot intercooler?

I have the intake and charge pipes wrapped in gold foil, turbo blanketed with factory heat shields on, and an aem dry air filter. Borla exhaust, but restriction is still the front pipe. No intercooler at the moment, but we'll see what develops with heat on track soon. I suspect an intercooler and oil coolers will be a must to keep it consistent in hotter weather.

Stock intake and charge pipes. I have considered the eventuri or prl intake pipe for more heat separation from the turbo, but supposedly they also bring the intake pipe closer to the turbo. I'll have to research and test it.

Blanket is torque solutions branded. 1 bolt on the factory heatshield can't go back on, but the other two can and they're good enough.

Pics of your install of foil and turbo blanket?

wrt PRL, you mean the PRL high-volume intake system (HVI) or just the piping from the mass air-flow sensor et al and over & down to the turbo inlet ?

thanks again.

Hey buddy. I have the PRL turbo inlet pipe as you know, and I didn't observe it being substantially closer or further away from the turbo compared to OEM. If it is, it's not enough not to be notable.

Let me know if there are any measurements you'd be interested in having.

Thanks! Yeah if you have an idea of how far from the turbo it is compared to stock, that would be helpful!

Sure,

I don't believe there's any restriction at the airbox, so I'm only referring to the intake pipe for heat rejection.

I took the car out this past weekend while I was coaching a class of HPDE2 students. I mostly went out with them to assess their lines and watch them do the drills I assigned, but I also got some free room between them to chase down some cars and keep my own pace up. With the spicy tune, the car did really well, and in 65-70F ambient I was mostly doing 86-90 IAT and coolant sat around 220F. I suspect in the 90-100F days I'll be looking at a 130-140F IAT and coolant might get into the danger zone at 250F+.

Power wise the car is wildly overpowered now! When I have him retune for my specific TT4 weight, I'll ask him to reduce torque. 30% throttle out of a second gear hairpin was very easy to spin a 200tw tire. The Hoosier Ta pro should be a lot grippier, but I believe it will still be too much torque for it. The car is still camber challenged until I can get the ball joints on.

Otherwise, the tune was rock solid and I'm getting muuuuuch better gas mileage than I did stock. Stock at 74mph I average around 24mpg and now it's just below 28mpg.
