Budget DIY ambient light conversion to RED

I ordered 6 red modules for the door strip, handles, and footwell. Didn’t buy one for the wireless charger because I don't want to take apart the center console. I got the red tape and the same red paint. Can you explain how you do it?
do I paint the light and then put tape ontop the paint?

It’s really either or. For that particular location I would suggest just using red tape.

I love how much better the Type R bulb looks, much brighter. Too bad there is no blue factory bulbs. My 2022 MINI Cooper S has the ability to change to whatever color you want.

I guess my first post here is to share that I ordered the type-R bulbs and installed them over the weekend and wow, I absolutely love the new look. The doors especially really pop with the red lighting.

I picked up my '24 Aspec 3 weeks ago and I absolutely fell in love with this car. Coming from a manual Tacoma TRD Pro, and I think my pickup truck days are over.

I was apprehensive to tear into the center console so I have that one above the wireless charger still white, but I plan on throwing a piece of red tape over it and calling it a day.

Thank you to OP, this was a fun and easy project to undertake.
