Bought a NEW 2025 ITS that Honda stashed in a warehouse for 18 months

Wednesday I traded in two cars that I thought I’d own for many more years. 2017 Civic Si 2dr and 2017 Accord Coupe V6 6MT.

I’ve had been daydreaming about owning an Integra Type S in black with red interior for awhile, but didn’t think i’d actually go for it or that my fiancé would even consider letting me purchase one.

Having 4 doors and getting rid of my other two cars seemed to make it alright for her. The auto rev matching makes me less scared to teach her how to drive it as well.

I saw a local Acura dealer had a few 2025s for sale and listed as new. I thought this was very odd, but the last one they had available was black on red. I haven’t seen a black with red interior on a dealer lot for over a year. I’m not so sure they’re going to be making this car much longer either.

The dealership said that Honda called them and said they had 5 ITS stored in a warehouse and forgot about them for 18 months. They asked this dealer if they wanted to sell them because they move them the fastest in the region.

Why was Honda storing 5 2025 Integra Type S cars in a warehouse? I know they like to save cars for their heritage museums and future press events. Anyone else have some speculation?

Price was listed at 52,550. I got $24,250 for my two trades.

My Si sold 3 hours after i drove off with my Type S. The Accord sold to someone in Ohio the next day.

So I was able to purchase a new 2025 ITS in August 2026 assembled November 2024 for a few thousand dollars less than MSRP.

No add-ons or accessories. Was told factory warranty starts the day i bought it. The only color combination I wanted. Felt like I was meant to buy it. Insanely refined car and driving experience. I’m pumped and hope I can keep it for over a long time. My next vehicle better be an electric Honda that is actually fun to drive.

I'd double check on that warranty information just to make sure, but you do get an extra year with the Acura vs Honda anyway. As long as it has next-to-zero miles and you like the colorway, I see no reason to second guess and just enjoy the car. It would be interesting to find out why they were sitting but not critical as long as the miles are low and no clear signs of trauma.

Also might want to check on fluids and probably do a thorough paint correction. If it was stored inside that's definitely better than outside but probably still has 18 months of dust layered on the paint. Some folks have reported the OEM brake fluid being pretty nasty from the factory, that could be exacerbated from sitting for a while.

They were letting people test drive it. Odometer was at 101 when I drove it 5 miles and decided to buy it with 106 on it. Pictures on the listing showed like 71 miles on it. I had them change the oil before I drove it home. They were reluctant to do so, but I didn’t want to risk 18 months old oil, even if it was still new. I’m going to change the oil again at 500 or 1000 miles. Bleeding the brakes should be easy enough. These cars still use DOT 3 honda genuine brake fluid, right?

I’m curious if I get to deduct my interest paid for my loan on my tax returns next year since it is a USA assembled vehicle.
