But I have an Autel scanner tool, I think the SRS module can be code cleared and I will be good. I think is what those companies do when you send the module to them. If you buy a new module, you need to reprogram it to link the car with the new module. Am I wrong?

It depends on what codes are set in the module. If it’s just simple airbag DTC’s then yes a scan tool can clear them, but if it’s crash codes, which if that many airbags deployed, I’m sure it will have stored then you’ll have trouble/fail clearing those. You need to have the crash data reset. The only fix is replacing the module along with any airbags or seat belts that were deployed obviously. You can try sending the module out to get it “reset” not sure how those are. If it’s new it will require reprogramming, depending which scanner you have, you might be able to do. It’s just writing the vin into the module + the after procedures. You can try picking up a used module that hasn’t been in a crash but will need an Autel IM level diag tool to re-virginize the used module and program as new

I have Autel MK9000, probably I wont be able, but I have give it a try. Also, Can I replace all airbags and turn on the car without resetting/changing the SRS Module? Is this safe, like it wont deploy again those new airbags?
Thanks for all the help here man, it is almost nothing out there and very frustrating.
Car was hit on the side. I thought It would be a nice project, but damn, I don't think I will buy a roof airbag or dash passenger airbag deployed again.

Never seen new airbags redeploy after being replaced before installing the new module. Certain criteria have to be met in order for airbags to deploy, that being said the airbag light will still be on, and as always disconnect the battery and wait 5-10 min before working on SRS components. Also, fair warning that many don’t know: by no means ever turn the SRS module upside down when connected as it will think it is a roll over event and deploy more airbags (this is with the battery connected of course).

Y-e-p!!
That happened to Matt Armstrong while working on the Range Rover (min 40:26), he dropped the module and it deployed the roof airbags. A lot of people don't know this, thanks for mentioning that! Let's see how it goes. I found a source selling me the 3 airbags for $625, and brand new, all will cost $1025, plus shipping, which is high due to regulations and blah blah. I don't know if I should pull the trigger on those used or get them brand new, since these are safety parts. What do you think?

Really just comes down to what you feel comfortable with. If you feel safe buying used and trust it then go that route, if you don’t feel safe or trust it, bite the bullet and buy new airbags

Hey @jayy_swish, question: where do you get all those diagrams, like what site and is it with a subscription? I need to find someone with all the body and frame measurements to check a Buick Envision I bought, and have to straighten the rear bar and pull the support radiator out.

You can either see if GM sells a short term subscription or what my shop uses is alldata but there’s a couple dealer level info websites out there along with alldata
