It is a wrap. Cut out each shape to fit.

Done by detailing/wrap guy I go to. Fit is perfect, you cannot tell it is wrap even from inches away.

so just to be clear, the front and rear emblems were not removed, correct? Basically, as you mentioned, red wrap material was perfectly cut and placed over the original black background of the emblem?

Correct, emblems were not removed.

I'll post close up when I have time.

This was an easy (and free) way to gauge whether I like the red emblems without disassembling.

Does anyone know the exact color of the FK8/FL5 red on the badge? Hex, RGB, pantone....?

I have emailed Honda Canada, they told me ask your dealer's parts department, parts says he has no idea.

Looking to buy wrap to more closely match a stock Honda red badge.
