Probably not the answer you’re looking for, but I would also try a reputable Honda dealer in your area if Acura dealers have all failed you. You can get any Honda or Acura car serviced at Honda or Acura dealers.

Idk about that one. I tried to go to a Honda. And they told me they would touch this car with a ten foot pole that if I did it would void warranty not that it matters I just called and cancelled my premier care and gold package warranties but still they won’t work on it

So its been a few weeks since I drained the OEM fill MTF and replaced it. I do think that the groaning/gear whining sound at highway speeds has been lessened. It is still there and I can still replicate it any time I want with very light throttle pressure on a level or downhill surface.

IMO there are two variables that could have worked to lessen the noise. My car was slightly under filled from the factory (2.0qts drained). Refilling I used the proper amount (2.3qts) and verified this using the check bolt on the front of the transmission. It's possible that the extra .3qts helps somehow as the transmission fill capacity is so small.

I also did not use Honda/Acura MTF but instead used a fluid I've used on most of my other manual transmission Honda's in the past: GM Synchromesh Friction Modified.

It's also possible that the different fluid/additive package helped with some of the gear noise that I was getting.

In either case I don't think this indicates a mechanical issue with the car. I think its just a characteristic of these transmissions.

The only other thing I'll add is that I think shifting is better with the GM fluid. Fast 1st to 2nd shifts when the car is really hot no longer feel scratchy, whereas with the OEM fluid if I rushed that shift I could feel the synchros not quite keeping up.

FK8/FL5/DE5 transmissions use a Torsen LSD. As long as the MTF is compatible with yellow metals and falls within the recommended viscosity range you can use it without fear of damaging or interfering with the LSD.

For us, this means the vast majority of the "manual transmission fluid" out there will work just fine. I would still stay away from GL5 Hypoid gear oils (think something like Mobil 75w90).

Just picked up a 2024 ITS and it has similar howling noise/symptoms as the OP. I've already replaced the the tires with brand new continental sxtreme contact dws06 tires as I thought it originated from there. Did we ever find out what was causing the noise? Mine happens normally around deceleration or I guess engine braking most notably when I'm driving 90km/hr. Although it comes and goes even with lower speeds and hard to predict.

Could rust on the rotors cause this noise? I've had a bad wheel bearing on another car and it sounds kinda like that but not quite the same. I say not the same because that was consistent and very loud. This sounds more like new tires on newly paved roads however it happens on all types of roads/pavement. The car only has 45,000km and Acura won't release any previous service history (for privacy reasons) even though I registered it through MyGarage so it's a bit frustrating not knowing what maintenance was done.

Mine has the same noise and I've noticed it since new (it has just over 3700 miles now). It is very easy to reproduce at highway speeds.

In 6th gear going 65-70mph I can completely lift off the throttle and then just barely re-apply the throttle. I can literally turn the sound on/off with that small throttle application while coasting or maintaining speed. Under light acceleration its gone. On full off throttle deceleration, its gone. It's only when I have the slightest throttle pressure but the car is still in a decel state or a fixed speed state.

It's definitely a lower pitched whirring sound. Like a differential in a rwd car or something like that. This is not the higher pitched metallic waste gate rattle.

My car runs great, gets expected mileage and performs well when I ask it to. So I haven't been concerned at this point, more of a curiosity as to what it was.

The 65 mph on-off whine is final drive gear whine, every Honda 6mt in fwd applications has it. All 3 of the cars 2 6-6 Accords and this car, I've had have done it, you can also hear it in 3rd at lower speeds, on-off the throttle. In my '04 it stayed the same for 160k.

I have a 2023 honda pilot and there's a slight whine which is livable but this sounds very different from that. This sounds more like a howl if that makes sense
