Oh I know they're going up... just a few months ago I could fill up for about $20 and now its over $30 to fill up. Gas prices get back into the $4 range over more of the country and suddenly people may start second guessing their gas guzzlers. Of course, things like hybrids and electric cars...
My thoughts on the crossover/SUV craze is just American mentality of "bigger is better"... people see LARGE vehicles and equate it with wealth and comfort. Regardless of whether or not they NEED a vehicle that size, I know plenty of single people with no kids or pets that have 2 or even 3 row...
That could be the case as well. I used the wheel wells and roof to line things up as well. Either way, it appears to be basically the exact same size and shape as the civic hatchback plus or minus an inch or two in regards to things like width and overhangs.
There's so many small hatches I would love that Europe and Asia get. I was always a big fan of the last model of VW Scirocco 3 door hatch. Always wanted that car to come state side (even tho it was mechanically identically to the Golf at the time). I always wanted Honda to create a Fit Si model...
It's hard to tell because of the angle of the spy shot, but I tried to do an overlay of the car against a side profile view of the civic hatch. The Integra is actually angled with the front closer to the camera so it made the overlay difficult to really get exact, but basing the front and rear...
I agree with you, smaller is better, but American's are tall and fat and they all want crossovers, so sadly even the "small" cars are mid-size by most standards now. I figure the actual dimensions will be identical to the civic hatch (with added width from widened stance of the CTR), these...
Side silhouette seems to match the civic hatch almost exactly. It could be the angle the shot is taken, but that rear overhang seems really long... I was hoping they'd try and shorten it a bit more compared to the civic, but from this shot it almost looks longer, but could be an illusion...
The major reasoning between pillar mounted and door mounted side mirrors comes down to wind noise. Door mounted mirrors produce less wind noise/vibration into the the car than pillar mounted type, which, for a premium vehicle less noise is better typically, it's also the same reason Honda did it...
I can definitely see that point. I'm not sure the Si saw those types of immense improvements to justify the price (could be wrong). But they took away the adjustable dampers for a decidedly more cost effective fixed setup, which I'm sure, even improved helped save some cost and weight. Again...
I agree whole heartedly with the Si having more of that "pure drivers car" kind of position. Trading features for more performance and affordability. But with less features, I'd also expect the starting price to be lower, which I think we can all assume won't be the case. I think if they wanted...
I don't think the 5hp will make a huge difference in performance considering the other improvements they made to the car and powertrain. The new Si's biggest knock will come from added weight but actual performance numbers hopefully won't be all that different from the last gen, while having...
I can see it going either way... I could see them increasing power for the Integra (they totally should) to help with any additional weight, and the fact that the TLX base engine saw and uptick over the accord tuned 2.0T... however, those now deleted market research posts did mention 200hp... so...
I get they want that off-road rally inspired look, but 95% of people that get this car aren't going to be taking it off road or doing rally courses. They should've toned down all the plastic cladding and lessened the wheel well gap and maybe offered the cladding and higher suspension as an...
I agreed with pretty much everything you said in your video. The bulging black plastic on the back is weird. The side cladding around the wheels is not needed. It does look better from the angles you viewed it from but overall I just think they needed to calm down with the black plastic. Also...
I don't disagree with you and would love to see the 2.0T as a base... however... The Audi A3 starts with just 201hp... BUT a much less discussed competitor (or soon to be competitor in the next few years) to Acura might be Mazda as they move upmarket to occupy a very similar space as Acura. And...
That's a fair assessment to make. Comparing the CTR spy shots and the admittedly grainy Integra shots, they don't appear quite as pronounced as the CTR, but that could just be the angle.
I'm not sure they'll do the flares quite as much as the CTR, possibly reserve the CTR level flares for the Type S... but the fenders on the regular Integra are definitely more flared than they are on the regular Civic hatch.
The best way to envision the new Integra in terms of size and scale is using the 11th gen CTR as a starting point (it appears the Integra is getting the flared fenders similar to what the CTR has), and then just stick the acura front/rear on it. There's a few crease lines in the sides that are...
