Im 55 also, lot of us Gen Xers here it seems.
Iām old enough that a ā97 GSR sedan was my first car purchase. (I did drive a ā93 Civic Ex manual before that but that was my momās).
I will say above like 40 or 45 I stopped driving aggressively, dunno if itās low T or a speeding ticket that was...
Iāll be looking at 2026 models of CTR or ITS, hopefully still in production by then. Will be back in the US summer 2025, and weāll need to buy two cars.
I went from 2017 Sport hatch to 2020 Si, which is 5" longer - I didn't really notice it in parking and not at all driving, but it did look very long visually when parked, which I wasn't a big fan of.
It is a factor for me, especially since the Type R is 4.5" shorter. But unless you parallel...
I always bought manual cause it makes boring drives more involving. Whenever I test drove a car in both versions, like the GTI, I preferred the manual. If both are available itās a no brainer but when only auto itās a more difficult choice.
Iām driving my first auto in Taiwan cause the only...

Id get an Alfa but nearest dealership back home is 45-60 min drive depending on traffic.
My Focus has never rattled in the year weāve owned it.
both my 10th gen Civics buzzed and rattled a lot even in the first year, as did my old GSR and ā94 Civic EX. itās a Honda tradition that goes way back, and is just something you live with in Hondas.
There's a lot of dated vehicles now worth more than their original MSRP.
I think it's simply that it's $60k and up, so there's limited buyers at that price point - and it's sort of an in-between vehicle - it's not as ISF, so doesn't appeal so much to ISF fans, but it's impractical like you...
Yeah, I don't see the appeal of the IS350, the car and engine are ancient.
The IS500 however will be a future classic. OP, I'd get an IS500, make yourself and the wife happy. Very unlikely she'll be happy driving stick.
