I'll take another look at Borla. It is a bit disappointing it isn't titanium but oh well. Neither is MBRP... but the MBRP is about $1k cheaper. Based off videos it appears to be one of the better sounding exhausts, plus it's valved, and I don't plan on big power so the diameter is better too...
It's the "student" part that gets me lol. I hear you though, it's just a car end of the day, and while a very fun car to drive it's not like you couldn't find another one.
I think I'd have some reservation if it was a special order Porsche though. I waited almost 15 months between deposit and...
As for the exhaust, I'm trying to figure that out too. I'm still leaning MBRP but also considering the Borla. Gonna be an expensive spring... I just ordered the carbon inlet tube for the Infinity Design intake I still have yet to install, and about to order the lower ball joints to get my camber...
I can't imagine ever buying another new Porsche. $150k+ for the 992 Carrera T... and whatever they're doing with the mid-engine cars doesn't interest me. If I buy another Porsche it will be used. I'm thinking another 981 or possibly a 997.
And funny you mention the STI that turned you off from...
It's actually a pretty good point... The rear brakes appear to be an afterthought on these cars. I guess there isn't much to complain about- I really can't find any fault with how the car stops or how the pedal feels- but they look kind of ridiculous, especially vs the fronts...
I'm actually...
My use case is primarily autocross, so I do have goals at doing some mild to moderate suspension tuning. For now I just have it on Eibach Pro-kit springs, which looks fantastic but I actually kind of wish I just held out for coilovers. But very soon I will be itching to get the front camber...
No, my personal philosophy is buy a car that's closest to where you want it dynamically, and make slight adjustments from there. Engine tuning for me is a thing of the past, a relic from my drag racing obsessions. I have almost zero interest in engine tuning these days, if I ever do any tuning...
After spending my youth playing football and basketball, and a decade or so of lifting (mostly improperly), I've just found that functional training was like flipping a switch. I'm contemplating just giving up the weights for good. Too many injuries, I've got no one to impress- but I want to...
Weirdly I like the stiffness of the seat cushion, even for long trips. I've said before, I actually prefer the seats in the ITS over the 18-ways in my Macan for that purpose. My only gripes remain the lack of bolstering on track (grip is fine), and they're about a 7/10 aesthetically for me. So...
Good discussion. Overall, it's a tough comparison because the Supra is so limited in practicality- but I can see them being cross-shopped easily as "enthusiast cars". The Supra is very high on my list of cars I'd consider "adding" to the stable, but no way would I replace the ITS with it, for...
I'm right there with you, but I'll add that I DO notice their inadequacies on track.
Agreed. Anyone paying ADM for a CTR in 2025 is a natural born sucker. They are readily available without an ADM, but that won't stop dealerships from trying.
I think part of the problem is many cars really do have fantastic seats- and it's not necessarily a new thing. The ITS seats just feel like an afterthought compared to stuff like this:
Dark Horse
G87 M2
RS3
Sure these are all more expensive cars, but here's a 2013 STI FFS:
The material makes a huge difference. I can't stand the fake leather Aspec seats either... they remind me of the (non-M) BMW 2 series seats but actually way worse. In the ITS at least the microsuede offers great grip. They're still not as good as the TLX seats but that car weighs like 800 lbs...
Porsche buyers... I thought the same thing when I bought my 991.2 Carrera S- although I did choose it over a GTS I could have got for the same price because I wanted the rear wheel steering, which is still an option on the GTS cars. But for whatever reason, I didn't want a 991.2 Carrera T I...
Well... net positive for the street. All the stuff I mentioned about camber still applies, but only to "aggressive" driving that really should only be done in a track setting anyway.
Just in case someone calls me out for spending many sentences above complaining about a mod that I did.
I've though about this for a while now, but the sad part is that a 981 GTS is incredibly hard to find, and I'm right there with you about the price of the 718 GTS 4.0 cars. The one I traded in for the ITS carried an MSRP just shy of $115k... but honestly to me that's a far better value than an...
