When I swap over to all-season tires next winter, I wanted to find out the widest and highest profile tires I can fit on the stock 19x9.5" wheels and stock suspension without rubbing. Anyone know or tried something much bigger with success? For example, could I fit 285x35 or even 285x40 tires on the Type S?

Looking for both more ride comfort and impact resistance to avoid messing up the wheels.

Thanks!

Biggest ve seen someone run was a 275x40x19 and honestly, I kinda hated how it looked. That amount of sidewall on that wheel size did not work at all stylistically with the DE5 imo, but it did function without issue for the owner so you definitely could if you wanted to.

Same question but for the 18 inch rims, if anyone knows?
i fit 275/35 tires on a 18x9.5 wheel (pretty popular sizing from reading the forums). im sure you could go wider but i think it really comes down to how low you go. im on swift springs which is a pretty aggressive drop but the car sits right above the tire by maybe a finger width.

Thanks, I don't think I'll go as wide as you have but nice to know I can.

Thanks. But I love the look of more tire sidewall, as I've never been a fan of super low-profile tires.

Don't get me wrong, the 265/30s on the ITS look good, but thicker sidewalls almost always looks better to me. There is a limit though, as may be 50% or so for most wide size tires (250+) is a bit too much for my tastes too.

285 would be the limit on 9.5" wide wheels and even then I feel you'll be losing a bit of cornering stability. 275 is personally as wide I would go.

Here is a 275/35 for reference, lowered on H&R springs on 19x9.5 +35 wheels.

Thank you! Sounds like I'll be sticking to 275 and either 35 or 40. Your current config looks awesome! Love the flush sidewalls... they look super straight, about as perfect as you can get. The stock PS4S tires have a sidewall that looks like they've been stretched just a little to fit the wheel, though no where near as bad as the stance crowd.

Good to know 275/35 works well even when lowered a bit AND on spacers. I assume no rub at all?

Since I have a 2025 ASPEC Manual I am assuming the wheel spec of 8Jx18 ET 50 means my wheels are 8" inches in width versus the 9.5" os a S model (or at least that is what Mr. Google is telling me). Please chime in if I have this incorrect - know this is more limiting to tire width I can use.

Just a word of caution, there is some numbness at the 35 profile that I'm not a fan of. It's definitely an improvement over bumps but turning and cornering feels a bit bland, if that makes any sense. It's minor but just enough to dampen my experience. I now run a 275/30 on those wheels (but they're currently not mounted) and I found it perfect.

This is exactly correct, 8" wide and 18" diameter.
