Has anybody tried replacing the factory head Unit with an after market one?

looks like a cheap chinese downgrade full of malware. i don't see the benefit from it unless it can play dodger games.
My friends would love that, they'd hitch rides just to watch sports games as we go to the bar or another game xD

Im waiting for a dongle or other add on that will allow us to add apps to the exstiong head unit like Hulu, Netflix, etc..
This is one of the things I like about Teslas I have seen, no limits on available media in the unit.
I don't own a tesla, just saw several with netflix and youtube. hulu etc.. working on them.

I know I saw a video on a head unit like this being installed but just now I wasn't able to find it on YouTube.
I do hope some cool options present themselves moving forward, Id like a larger screen with better apps and the ability to watch youtube and other subscriber-based apps on my head unit.

Yeah... Not sure if i'll ever complete the install. It's just too much time and effort. The integra videos don't do well either.

But yeah for my details,

When I first attempted the install, I wasn’t getting any sound (base model civics and integra it's an easy install / upgraded audio not so much), so I didn’t complete it. I worked with the manufacturer, and they sent me a new harness to use with our amp, but I’ve been too busy to set it up. It was a real PITA because the main portion of the Type S/R head unit sits below the climate control with its plugs facing the floor, so there’s barely any room to unplug it—but I managed. I figured you could remove more of the footwell panels for better access, but I didn’t see any obvious way.

The screen looks much better, and the larger size and wider aspect ratio allow for more information to be displayed. It could also be useful for the Hondata app or other OBD-II apps.

Yes both are made in China. Apple is apple and the chinese head unit is still a chinese brand. I wouldn't call my iPhone a chinese phone because its made in China. I thought people had more common sense in differences.
