replacement brake pads first time changing

So, before my pads wear down, I want to replace them to avoid any contact with the discs.
I had them inspected a few weeks ago and they were a little more than half worn at 7k miles.
What is everyone using for daily pads?

I would prefer long lasting as a priority, low dust as a second consideration, but Ill deal with dust for a longer life span if there is a better brake pad.

Not sure what others have chosen to use so I figured I'd ask.

Also, do you guys order from Rock auto?

I'm being told they have good deals and to order from then, but I haven't before so again, asking to see what the general consensus is on where people like to or brake pads from.
I see prices at AutoZone or advanced etc.. around 125$ or so for the fronts, but on Rock they're like 25$ a pair? it seems off to me.
I am looking at these for now.

Especially on brake pads they have many choices on brands which is good.
Pricing is very good - makes you realize how much the auto parts stores markup.
Just one thing to watch when ordering is sometimes one item comes from warehouse A and another from warehouse B so the shipping doubles. I found the same pads on Amazon but a few bucks more, so I was going to order from Amazon because they are the only ones that deliver to my back door upper deck, whereas usps and ups and fed x will not, so I might pay the extra 10$ for peace of mind with shipping.
I live in an apt currently on a corner in a city and if my packages are left at the wrong door, they just disappear.

I was hoping to find others that have done them already and found a better pad that doesn't make as much dust but lasts longer than OEM.

Do you track the car? If so, it's a different discussion .....

But I'm surprised you were able to wear out a set of factory street pads at less than 15K miles.
That seems unusual, and I'd certainly look for some other problem that might be responsible for that degree of wear.

We used to use Akebono pads on street cars - with good results.
I'd also be careful mixing brands of pads - why are you not using the same manufacturer / Type on each axle?? Unless you know what you're doing, mixing pad types with unknown / different friction compounds seems like a very poor idea. I suppose you might get lucky and have the ABS save you from an aggressive rear pad compound, but why take the chance?

I did see a set of Akebono front and rear pads in the premium section on Rock auto.
I hadn't ever used them so when I was looking I was trying to go with names I recognized.
Now, after looking again, I can't find the Bendix model I had selected listed as for this car, making me rethink my choice.
Someone else asked why mix brands, another thing I hadn't considered, so also leaning me toward the Akebono's.
The Akebono sets are priced well, are ceramic and say they fit this car, so maybe Ill go that way instead then.
Still thinking as I read what others are saying.

I appreciate your thoughts on this, I hadn't considered the brands being mixed as an issue to be honest.
But after you said it, it did seem to make sense.
I was looking at the Bendix and Brembo combo but now I am leaning on the Akebono's, front and rear ceramic from Rocks premium section.
ACT 1878 rear pads and ACT 1001 front pads.

Endless SSM Plus from Black Hawk Japan. Took like two months to get them, but they're way better than stock and Paragon P2 pads for my spirited back road driving. The lack of brake dust is incredibly nice.

out of interest who makes the stock OEM pads is it Brembo? can they be bought from anywhere other than an Acura parts store? i had my rear pads replaced at the dealership at 18k and they said they had to replace the rear rotors too. i was in such a rush and desperate to get my car back on the road, i just said ok. I have the Honda diag comp to unlock ABS too so would of been able to do a DIY and saved a ton of money. But at the time i probably wouldn't have had the time. So not too annoyed. i just know my fronts are probably in need of replacing soon. im at 25k so i should order them and change them now, then just bed 'em in. important to note, i DONT track the car, just a daily that doesn't even get driven hard anymore. I don't know, it may even be better to replace all four corners with the Akebonos unless the front OEMs can be had without an arm and a leg.
