Hi there, Got a Type S and traded in a GR Corolla. Have been using ModernSpare for GR Corolla. Looks like I have to change since the bolt pattern is different(need to check since there are multiple holes on the wheel). Anyways, wanted to see if any of these spare tires work on front wheels due to LSD. Used to have a full size spare in my 07 Civic Si for the same reason, but Type S tires are too big to be a practical alternative. For LSD, is it just the diameter of the wheel or is it also the contact patch that matters since ModernSpare says it can be used on the front also. any inputs I would highly appreciate. Know there are a lot of forums. Answers are not very conclusive.

Alternatively, I saw this 23-25 Type R spare on eBay. Has anyone used this before. Not sure if it is OEM and also if it can be used in the front

The important dimension with an LSD is the OD of the tire on each side. The ITS uses a helical design LSD, not a locking diff, so this is not as critical. Regarding a spare, I got mine from EZ Spare Wheel. Since we have the same size on all corners, it can be used anywhere.

Look on the forum for 2 spare tire threads. One using the Acura RL spare, the other a BMW spare. Both have + and - IMO, depends on what is better for you.

With the LSD, I wouldn't put a spare in front. Better to put spare in the back, then use the rear wheel up front.

At the time I was shopping, Modern Spare did not have the correct size for the Type S, and there was no anticipated date of shipment for the backordered tires. Perhaps that has changed. Because of the larger front brake calipers and the lug nut pattern, the standard Integra kit doesn't work.
And no, it doesn't fit under the floor in back. I have mine strapped down, using two diagonally opposed strap anchors. I have a compact Jack that wedges between the tire and the rear of the trunk, so it's all secure. It takes up some space, but for me, it's worth the piece of mind to have a real spare.

As long as the OD is a match, using the spare in front poses no risk. I specifically wanted a spare that fits up front. Putting the spare on the rear and then putting the rear wheel in front doesn't sound like a big deal, and it's not if you're in your driveway in the daytime with good weather. But, if you are on the side of the road at night, it's no time to be playing tire shop and switching tires around. It's a dangerous scenario at best, so better to get it done quickly.

off topic: why did you get rid of the GR?

Change cars a bit and always have been a fan of Honda ( had ‘07 Si sedan and ‘03 Si hatch)and wanted to get a FL5 Type R but since markups are still high and ends up being more than ITS with discounts, and so I went for Type S. For my skill level, they both drove similar and Acura had more features, tad better dealer experience and an additional year of warranty.Had gotten the GR thinking I would take it to track more, but only ended up doing 4 HPDE a year including a free one GR comes with. Enjoyed it and for a novice, AWD was nice but being frugal the cost of consumables/time meant I didn’t want to do more of that . Outside of track, it felt like driving at 8/10+ (am in mid 40s)all the time even when you are not in the mood.. for 2 HPDE events per year, ITS is a good compromise. Also, simple things like driving position, darty ride, engine clatter, space, and the dealer experiences were not good. Good thing is they hold value reasonably well. Enjoyed it, both are an antidote to the extremely sterile Subaru Solterra EV I daily . Will keep this until next STI (went to WRX/STI in after the Honda decade) or Neuve Klasse M3. Sorry for the long one!

Agreed. Especially in Texas.. I am not very handy and would use roadside assistance. Can’t ask them to do double the work either

My 18" wheel from EZ Spare clears the front rotor. Verify that it's a 5X120 bolt pattern.

The OE FL5 spare is yellow.

The one in your link seems to be like the modern spare...
