Cooling plate increasing IAT?

I recently installed a Jogon carbon cooling plate and noticed my intake temps are running higher than before. Is it because the plate seals off the top gap, forcing all that frontal air straight through the hot radiator core and trapping the heat under the hood where the intake pulls air?

I'm running PRL HVI/Intercooler/Charge pipe/Inlet + stage 2 tune.

What’s the increase? Bro if it’s just a few degrees, the intercooler can scrub it if you’re running a bigger one.

I want to say an average of 8-10 degrees higher than ambient temp, but the temp does drop quickly once I start moving. Yesterday when ambient was 81F my temp at idle was 135

Oh wow. Try removing the front middle cooling plate for a day and see what that does? U may have to cut it up some if it’s the problem

The intake doesn't pull air from the engine bay, it pulls it from the front grill.

10 over ambient is solid, and 20-30F over ambient during heavy heatsoak is considered fantastic.

The plate could block some airflow from escaping during sitting still, but the hood louvre is large enough that it should compensate for it. As soon as you move a tiny bit, airflow should force temps down fast. Technically with the plates in place airflow should force more across the cooling stack and stay cooler than stock.

What else have you changed recently?

good to know! Nothing else, before that I added a WOT cooling plate lol

At a Starbucks drive through. My temps with my prl lit up to a hair over 50f over ambient

after I paid for my wife’s disgusting coffee. I noticed I only had to drive about 1.5 blocks at 40-45mph before temps were back at about ambient or very close to it. The pwr intercooler sheds heat fast as hell.

i dont stress it. The pwr intercooler does delay the inevitable for a good while. Plus the ecu can just periodically dump extra fuel to cool things down. No biggie. Nothings gonna melt or catch fire.

you’re probably fine on stock intercooler too unless you’re at Starbucks on that day that pumpkin spice shit releases. You’d be in that line for a long ass time and all bets are off

That's what I'm worried about, something melting but I guess its normal. Or maybe I should just not look at the COBB accessport, the less you know the better lol

From my Subaru days. I learned that hoe does nothing but give me anxiety. Unplug that shit

don’t fret. The loud bang or boom will let U know when something went sideways 😂

I get where you're coming from, but by that logic, no one would ever touch intakes, intercoolers, or exhausts. OEMs optimize for a balance of cost, NVH, emissions, and mass production, not strictly thermal efficiency or performance. Part of modding is trial and error to see what actually works on a specific setup
