Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced any issues with their wheel bearings? I noticed a sound after lifting off the accelerator at highway speeds. I asked my local Acura dealership to look into it. They said its the front wheel bearings and they need to be replaced, under Warranty thankfully. $2,500 with labour CDN!

How many miles do you have in your car? Do you have wheel spacers?

I replaced my front wheel bearing before. I screwed up when I installed my lowering springs by not tightening the axle nut and took it for a drive. I think my spacers contributed as well. Anyways, is a pretty easy replacement IMO; you do need to use a mallet to get the bearing/hub out. The hub and bearing is one unit so that's a plus.

Anyways, if it's your bearings, you should hear a groaning noise with speed.

Given how much heat I've seen at the axle/wheel (melting the center cap on track so it flies out) and the fact the hub carrier is all aluminum so it transmits heat to the bearing very well, I would not be surprised to see bearings as a standard 40-50k wear item with hard driving. Same thing happened my other aluminum hub carrier cars around similar mileage with hard use.
