Hey guys, just did my first oil change on my 2023 aspec Integra. Rotated the tires, still need to get the filters- what else do I need to inspect besides fluids?

Also I reset my maintenance reminder, and it says A12 now. Does that mean you basically replace the air filter and cabin filter every oil change?

also I’m almost at 30,000 miles- I noticed people usually change transmission fluid at 30k, should I wait for the car to tell me to? Also I noticed in the manual that it says do not change the trans fluid yourself, what’s the reasoning for this? Thank you ladies and gents!! put some penzoil ultra in, always feels good to have fresh oil.

I personally am a fan of regular, but not OCD, fluid changes. OEMs stretch a lot of maintenance intervals to show a reduced TCO, but for the DIY crowd our time is free and the costs for fluids is nominal.

Given the manual transmission fill bolt is under air filter, its a nice time to do it when you also are doing air filter work and an oil change. For me this will be about every 2-2.5y based on my annual mileage, though I'd not hesitate to run it 4/60K. OEM honda MTL is excellent to me, no need to go exotics but to each their own.

If this is an auto transmission, 50-60K is fine, just not 100K+ or 'lifetime'.

This is a manual transmission, so maybe I’ll just change it when I get the filters. Why does the manual tell you not to do it yourself?

also I’m thinking I just reset the oil part, and didn’t reset the filters part yet, so I’m guessing that’s why it said A12 immediately after resetting oil?

I can only guess to the warning being there as there is no dipstick to actually check the fluid level for someone who is not mechanically inclined. The manuals are written with that in mind in a litigious society that rewards stupidity in to many cases. Oh, you burned your hand trying to check the fluid on the side of the engine block? Must be Hondas fault.
