So about two weeks ago i changed the oil in my car. Honda oil filter and mobil synthetic. Car was running perfect for 200 miles. I went on vacation for a week, and when I returned, the car was running a bit rough. Noticeable buzz/vibration and exhaust was louder. I could definitely feel the vibration through the clutch pedal, whereas I think we can all agree the clutch usually lacks any feel. It really starts getting loud and noticeable above 3k rpms. The engine itself, while idling, looks to be vibrating more than usual and you can even notice the car shaking a bit. Has anyone encountered anything similar? Hoping it’s just a bad batch of gas.

Drive it more!!! You definitely didn't overfill the oil, right?

Did not overfill it. Another weird thing that happened was that the throttle seemed to get stuck today in first gear. I got to 2500 rpm and the car stayed there. Pressed the clutch in hoping for the rpm’s to drop and they didn’t. Made me nervous as I had my family in the car. Finally dropped after about 3-4 seconds.

I also hope it was bad batch of gas, but you should take it to the dealer as soon as you can. It could be something simple, like a valve or control in the emissions system, or something more complicated like a failed motor mount, or a more serious engine issue. This is what the warranty is for.

Forgive me if that's not helpful, but for a car this new, just let the dealer figure it out.

EDIT: The symptoms you describe sound like a misfire in one cylinder. Bad gas won't usually cause an issue at idle, only under load. That could mean a bad coil or an issue in the head. If the car doesn't pull like it used to on full throttle and/or if the noise is way worse at full throttle, that would be a giveaway. Re-check the oil level, then take it to your dealer.

Unfortunately, if that is the issue, the oil has to be changed again.

so I think I was wrong and you both were right. I didnt think I overfilled, but it was at the top of the dip stick marker. I took about a quarter of a quart out with my pump, and happy to report the vibration was reduced significantly. I think I have a little bit more to take out, but I am relieved it isn’t something more serious. Hopefully all those miles with too much oil didn’t do any harm, but only time will tell. Sometimes, we make foolish mistakes….

That's good news, and hopefully you're in the clear. With that said, you may have two other issues to look at, if you want to be careful.

First, there's probably fuel in your oil, so you may want to change it again.

Second, one or more of your spark plugs may be fouled, it might be worth a look at them. Just cleaning them should sort it. Sounds like the coils are probably fine.

hard to say if that was the issue, but hope no issues from here on out. I usually like to keep the oil just below the full mark. Heck anywhere in between the bottom and top line should be fine.
