Funny - We always hear "praises" for Top Tier Fuel from the companies selling them to us - generally at higher prices. But we never get to hear the other side of the story from those selling the good ole normal tier fuels for less money.

Somehow the skeptic in me has this mental picture of a bunch of fuel company marketing wonks sitting around a table eating shrimp & lobster, dreaming up an Ad campaign to sell the exact same gas at higher higher prices by adding nothing more to the formula than a "Top Tier" graphic logo. How much "difference" do you really think there is?

And in our area, Costco fuel is basically the same price as other nearby stations - no deal.

Costco is about 50 cents a gallon cheaper where I live. I am glad there is one near me.

Interesting - we have some weird State pricing laws dating back into the 1930's. Perhaps they are responsible for the lack of any significant fuel price differences at Costco versus other nearby stations?
While we've had a Costco card for some years, I've found their store prices to be pretty much the same as other local food stores. Yes, you are forced to buy larger containers, but price per ounce is about the same. However, their parking lot is certainly full most of the time, so perhaps I'm missing something. But my biggest complaint is they continuously move products around the store, making them difficult to find. So I seldom shop there any more.

FYI, we only get 91 octane in California. His drive is only 4 miles each way to high school.

4 miles per run? That is not good for the engine and oil... I recommend you change that oil often or it will get full of fuel...

Does it have an oil life monitor and it's algorithm will adjust accordingly?

I only drive 100-300 miles a month. With a ton of short trips

after a lot of back and forth with samples to black stone. They determined 8 months is my limit due to condensation build up. So I swap oil every 6 months now

My son's car is just a few months old with just 1.5k miles. I will check when he gets home.

Well, short runs are detrimental to engines...all I know is that for very short trips Honda recommends the HD cycle. Check your owners manual for more details.
