I used to be totally anal about keeping the car clean. Then I got involved in track stuff and found that it's not possible to keep a car pristine when on the track regularly. I'm through with that now, but it got me past the need to have a perfect car every day. It's more fun to drive it hard than to look at it, so I drive the piss out of it and wash it once a week, and sometimes I skip a week. Sorry, I know I'm not answering your question, but if you can get past the obsession of keeping it perfect, life will be easier. A car dealer friend of mine once said, "you know, by keeping that car so perfect, you're only building value for the next owner!" He had a point.
