Car play disconnects music when I make or receive a call

2024 ITS. I have an iPhone 15. While listening to music, if I get or make or receive a call, it switches the music off after the call is concluded. Instead of music through the speakers, it comes through my BT hearing aids. I have only found that turning the car off to reset restores music out the speakers.

if I enter and start the car, car play connects to my phone perfectly. This only happens with calls. Any ideas?

My first thought is that like Android Auto, Apple Carplay does not play well with Bluetooth, you sort of have to do one or the other but not both simultaneously.
