Hello,

Recently purchased a 2025 Pearl white Type S w/ red interior - really enjoying having a MT again (used to have a '97 GSR back in the day) and would like to meet any local owners. So far I've done the blacked out emblems, carbon fiber rear spoiler, Alcantara wrapped center console and changed the shift knob. I also have the PRL HVI but am hesitant to install it - since the car only has 700 miles so far and I don't want to mess any warranty stuff up (although the install doesn't look too complicated)..

Any Bay Area Type S members in the Peninsula or South Bay area who'd be up for a chat?
Just FYI

Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your entire car warranty; rather, the manufacturer must prove the aftermarket part directly caused the issue for which you are seeking warranty coverage, thanks to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. For example, a faulty radiator wouldn't be covered if you had a performance intake installed, but a leaky valve cover due to a faulty seal could still be covered even with modifications.

Here's a breakdown of how it works:
  • The Law Protects You:
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a federal law that prevents manufacturers from automatically voiding warranties for using aftermarket parts.

  • Burden of Proof:
The manufacturer has the responsibility to demonstrate that the specific aftermarket part or modification is the reason for the vehicle's failure.

  • Specific vs. Broad Denial:
They cannot deny coverage for the entire vehicle simply because you used an aftermarket part; they can only deny the specific part of the repair that was directly caused by that part.

  • Considerations:
    • Quality of the Part: Using low-quality or poorly designed aftermarket parts can increase the risk of issues, and if these parts fail and damage other components, the manufacturer may have grounds to deny coverage.

    • Quality of Installation: Proper installation is crucial. A poorly installed part can cause damage, which the manufacturer could link to your warranty claim.

    • Modifications with Known Risks: Major performance modifications, such as certain engine tunes or complex electrical systems, carry a higher risk of impacting other components and could make it easier for a manufacturer to attribute issues to your modifications.
Tips to Minimize Risk:
  • Choose Reputable Brands:
Opt for well-known, high-quality aftermarket parts.

  • Ensure Professional Installation:
Have your aftermarket parts installed by qualified professionals who are familiar with your vehicle.

  • Keep Records:
Maintain documentation of the parts you've installed and the professional work done on them.

  • Be Prepared for a Discussion:
If a warranty claim is denied, don't accept the denial outright. Contact the manufacturer's corporate customer service and clearly state the parts they've used have not caused the issue you are claiming.

Quick update — we had a great South Bay meetup this morning for a drive.

Awesome group of guys, great to meet everyone, and it was amazing seeing us all cruising together along Highway 9.

Bay area guys/gals. I might be considering going back to OEM exhaust. I have a tomei type d exhaust. Asking $1200 plus your OEM exhaust. Seems pretty fair.

I'm in the Bay Area! I started a new IG account. It's called Bay Area Integra Team or B.A.I.T. Anyone is welcome to join whether you're a current or past owner or just appreciate integras! Currently the page is blank but I'm hoping to start plan some car meets, hangouts, etc. I would like to do one around December for Christmas holidays. Maybe a drive through in neighborhoods that go all out with decorations, such as Willow Glen?
