If want to tweak the sound, i.e., eq settings try the Wavelet app. It only works with Android however. I upgraded my sub with a Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-8 & it was still lacking when using Spotify.
I use Wavelet to get close to a Hardon curve on the eq settings with Spotify & the car set to flat positions.
I listen to damn near everything. It has settings for both Bluetooth devices & works when wired. It's free on the Play store.

Also, this helps a good bit with poor Spotify playback. My goal was to at least match XM. I can actually hear a difference when using the lossless settings. It isn't audiophile quality with a good set of ear cans, it is definitely clearer & at lower volumes (I cruise the highway at 14-16).

Something sounds off for sure.
It shouldn't make a difference, but have you made sure the Bluetooth connection is set to quality over stability?
Does Spotify have similar options as YouTube music to download/stream at the highest quality?
