Congrats on the FL5! Awesome car. I would have been happy with either, and I'd probably have bought a CTR long before the ITS was available if ADMs hadn't been so ridiculous.
That said, I really don't understand this sentiment that "the ITS is trying harder to be something more than the FL5 is...
I don't know how many reviewers actually did the "pedal dance". I can't speak to how much of a difference this might make on a circuit or in autocross, but I personally find it noticeable on the street, and I go through the process to disable all VSA whenever I'm going for an enjoyable drive. It...
I don't dislike it, but personally, I'd want it CF if I'm doing the center console, etc. in CF -- just to tie it together. In general, I wish they chose fewer total different textures for the cabin. Between the finish on the dash trim, the gloss black, the matte black / grey on the switch trims...
I would go with the Synth stuff if they had a dash solution, like they do for the Civic. But, I'd prefer cured CF, too. Center console / dash trim would be great.
Yep. All these OTS tunes spike that low-end torque. I know they are working around factory turbo and fuel pump limitations, but I'd prefer to invest in some 4P cams and a HPFP and target the high end over putting such a high load on the rods below 3k.
I share your understanding completely. I think we're thinking of the same example: upgrade the BPV if you go the RV6 route.
The MHI is definitely the less involved upgrade.
But, as we were discussing 4Piston cams the other day... if you're gonna get high lift cams, don't you kind of want the...
Yeah, to reduce heat radiation.
MHI does have a stage 2 turbo for this platform. My understanding is that it has a good reputation. Last time I checked, the price was similar to the RV6 660, which has a higher performance ceiling, though.
Can't believe I missed that... sometimes their categorization leaves a lot to be desired, but I know I looked under "Engine" first. Thanks!
Looking to get these coated.
Has anyone been able to find the part #s for the turbo and downpipe heat shields?
I was trying to find these on Dreamshop, and maybe I'm just blind, but I can't find them :/
When Hondata jailbroke the DE5 ECU, they compared it to the FL5. The DE5 gets 2 extra degrees of timing and a slightly higher torque limit.
It seems the DE5 is putting down ~300 hp at the wheels, which is maybe a little more than 10 up on the FL5. Assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, we're probably...
Do the cams have issues related to torque at that point?
I know the rods are definitely the weak point and that the valve train will start to float over 7500 rpm without new springs, but I hadn't heard of cams being an early bottleneck on this motor -- at least not from a reliability standpoint...
Yes. The compression ratio is the same ("street" C1 vs C8). You can find the specs in the Acura Integra brochure.
The racing engine is running higher compression.
The sequential transmission and the ECU alone would cost you close to $25k combined.
K20C8 and K20C1 are mechanically identical. The 8s go to Marysville, and the 1s go to Japan.
The HPD DE5 is not running the same tune, etc. as the stock K20C8 (likely has forged rods, etc. -- note: "developed by HPD and HRC for motorsports use", "Motec M1 ECU...").
Understood on the headlights. Like I said, I hadn't tried that. They work fine. They turn on when it's dark; they turn off when its not, and the auto high beams work pretty well, too.
re: the wipers... I'm not sure I understand what your complaint is, then. I thought you were bothered by them...
