Speaking of better seats in lower cost cars, how about the current WRX tR/tS:
\
Or Miata Club:
These are both Recaro-branded OEM seats, not true Recaros, but it at least shows the automakers are making an effort to put a proper sport seat in the cars.
Believe it or not, the Supra has a traditional slushbox automatic, the ZF 8-spd. I've had it in a few cars (including my wife's current X3-M40i). I despise automatics but it's among the best I have ever driven and pairs well with the engines. BMW is even putting it in the M cars now. I'd...
Can't really compare to other Toyotas since the Supra drivetrain is pure BMW, including the ZF manual transmission which has done duty in other BMW models. The shifter is maybe a little less rubbery than some BMW units, but still not like a Honda, Toyota, or Aisin unit in those Japanese cars...
How are they jacking up a $55K MSRP to get to $73K ? Doesn't even seem physically possible. Not to mention it's beyond reasonable. In terms of build quality, this car is already a stretch at $55K in my opinion.
I paid $2K under MSRP for my 2025 ITS in December in Virginia. One dealer got...
It's a fun car but has a lot of typical "isolation" you'd expect in a BMW platform, so it does not feel as sharp or edgy as the ITS. And the shifter isn't as good as the ITS. To me the worst part of the Supra was visiblity. It's very cramped inside and the sight lines suck.
I was going to say, I am surprised to hear the Blizzaks are quieter to start, but they won't stay that way long. Pretty soon they will sound like a lifted jeep rolling down the highway.
The tires excite something in the structure which is not very solid or damped, so the noise reverberates. I came to the conclusion that the Civic platform which the Integra rides on has very basic engineering when it comes to NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). I am sure Honda worked to improve...
My father in law had a 2016 Cayman GTS and that was an outstanding car. Unfortunately the new ones are now out of reach and get up past my "a good value" tolerance. I will say that the best sports cars I have owned have been fairly modest, like the S2000, last gen M2 Comp, ND Miata. Heck, the...
I could say the same thing, but the "sheen" is part of my problem. I was working on one of my other cars in the garage today and kept glancing over at the ITS and shaking my head. They managed to get about 5 different flavors of orange peel on my car, and the worst (hood and roof) is so coarse...
100% agree that the HRC should be a PMC build if it is meant to be a special model or limited production car. The quality needs to be significantly better than what we're seeing now.
It always cracks me up how some cars need to remind you what you're driving. I think my M2 Comp has the //M logo on the steering wheel, shifter knob, both seats (lighted no less), door sills, and instrument cluster. I guess they want to make sure you don't get into the wrong car coming out of...
I have three collector cars in temporary hibernation for the winter but had planned to be driving the ITS. However, we've had two snowstorms in a row (a lot for SE VA) and the roads have an insane amount of salt. They brine the roads here, and it dries into a salty dust that flies up into a...
It's likely powdercoat so the best you can do is try to get close with some off the shelf touchup paint in the closest color you can find, or be prepared to mix a couple colors to get close. Wheel repair companies will usually custom mix paint to get a close match and airbrush it on for a clean...
Unfortunately that is typical these days, most manufacturers hang the panel at the top, snap the edges in with pins, and then if you're lucky they will put a screw in the latch handle cup and 1-2 screws at the pull. If Acura is using a single screw for the whole panel, that is quite an...
There aren't sensors, just a cable going into the shocks to change the mode. Maybe one of the connectors experienced water intrusion. I'd definitely want to check over each shock to make sure there wasn't physical damage to the harness or connector.
If you can de-pin the broken connector (may have already happened when it broke) you can try to ID the connector type and buy a new body to slide the pins back into. I've had good luck sourcing stuff like that from DigiKey. It may only cost cents for the part but you'll likely spend dollars on...
